Hello i was on mirtazapine for a year but had to come off after terrible effects it caused i have been off 4 weeks now. I have been left with chronic functional abdominal pain which started in july and has caused me to be off work since oct. My gastro doc and psych dr suggested a low dose of lofepramine as trycilc ad would help depression and chronic pain. I am only starting at 70mg a night due to super sensitivity ti most meds even pain killers. I had first dose in sat and first 2 nights were fine but last night i felt so anxious thriugh the night severe dry mouth and sweating buckets i just feel plain weird. As of yet it is doing nothing for pain. Was wondering if anyone has any input on whether if i stick with it these effects will wear off? I am due back to work in 10 days and worried sick i wont manage if im like this. Many thanks any input welcome

Hey kelly...usually it takes a couple weeks or more for the meds to start working and alot of times the side effects will wear off depending on what it is. Has the dr talked to you about possibly going on Cymbalta. I was given that for my anxiety at 60 MG but my pain management dr upped it to 120mg to see if it would help with my back pain...it doesn't help so much for pain (Dr's are still trying to find something that isn't a narcotic that I can toperate the side effects) but it does help tremendously for my anxiety disorder

I wasn't thinking of adding it..more or less replacing it...I've been to 2 pain clinics...Dr's can't find anything that really helps...I have severe back pain and I think I've tried almost everything there is including several nerve blocks. I can't even walk down the street without my back starting to go out so I do understand...give the meds some time to work...I know that sucks to hear but I'm sure your dr told you the same thing

I haven't been no...I've been several different meds over the years...when I had my crohns I had that kind of abdominal pain...it was excruciating 24/7 and I took nothing for it...I hope and pray the dr can find something that works...I'm glad you have an appointment with pain management...they are alot more knowledgeable on what to do...plus with all the new med regulations they are pretty much the only Dr's that will do pain management...my primary won't even touch it

Never knew pain management existed. Living with pain consumes every part if you're life and doesnt help that you cant take any of the strong painkillers. Althiugh doc says because its more nerve induced pain they probably wont help hence trycilic ads are used x

I never knew either until my primary care dr referred me...mine is also nerve pain...I've tried everything...the new nurse practitioner I see seems to be way more helpful...she prescribed me tizanidine which helps a little at night...at least I can now sleep in my bed for a few hrs instead of sleeping upright in a hard chair...can't do much else though...can't even walk down the street without my back giving out...I miss diddling around Walmart!!! Especially cuz I have a hard time sleeping every night I used to at all hrs
