I am on low dose prednisone 4mg (down from 5mg, never above 5mg) for RA as well as on Orencia. I fell and broke both ankles and read these meds could slow bone healing, I am wondering if anyone here has broken any bones while on these meds and how well did you heal??

HI. Broke my foot in early May. Had just started humira April 25th. Also had very bad sprain in my ankle.
Healing has been slow. Break is healing but it is taking longer than normal. I still have swealing and bruising in my ankle. I was in a boot for 7 weeks and then transferred to a brace. I'm still having pain in my ankle, and pain in the break area if I have to drive. I have a long commute to work, so I just was back in the office 7/10.
I've never broken anything before so I don't have a comparison on healing time. But the dr said I'm healing just slower.
Best of luck to you! How awful to have 2 broken at the same time!
By the way, I did not change the course of any of my meds, other than on stronger pain meds for about 6 weeks.

I don't have the answer for you but I just wanted to say I am very sorry to hear you broke both ankles after a fall. Hopefully a few people will be able to answer your question. Wishing you all the best in your recovery
