hi everyone  i had my gall bladder removed 4 weeks ago  and im struggling on a low fat diet    I asked my doctor to put me intouch with a dietician   but was told it could take months,  ive never been the one for the healthy living foods (shame on me ) ive never been able to stick to diets either,   I have lost a just over 14lb in weight since my surgery   which im glad about   and dont intend to put it back on,  but im really struggling with low fat reciepes.   i cant seem to tolerate tomatoes or any other tomatoes sauce based foods    anyone any suggestions on any recipes   would be much appreciated.

do you like home made soup? thats low fat if  just use stock cubes.you dont have to buy stuff that says lowfat on it just buy stuff that isnt full of fat like cheese. and pizza and sausages certains meats. creammy meals pasta. creamy sauces.bottles of sauces for pasta all those are processed anyway. and not healthy.

chicken and turkey  is low fat as is fish and scrambled or poached or boiled eggs.dont add butter to them. porridge. low fat is also much more easyily digested. buying things that say low fat are usually loaded with sugar thats why i dont go for lowfat per se.you dont need a dietician these days with the internet.. there are plenty healthy eating websites online just google gallbladder diet.its not really a diet where you are resticted to eating a certain amount of food per day, but more a way of eating that  is healthy.as eating bad food is not good for our bodies we see it all the time people getting diabeties and heartattack with eating all the wrong foods. it doesnt have to be tomatoes either. im sure there will be some fruit or veg that you will like.you could make some nice gravy from a stock cube to pour over your chicken. always seperate the fat from the jelly. by letting it cool and breakin off the fat.,if you could eat home made soup you could get a lot of your vegetable intake from that as well. are you feeling better since your gallbladder removal. i hope so and i wish you well there will be others along soon who will also give you good tips on eating well. good luck and i hope you get well very soon and find the foods you like.🌷

If you buy anything ready prepared, read the labels carefully and keep to lowest fat possible, ideally under 5g - all the info is on the front of packages now. Compare different ones as there can be a difference between the same foood, different makes. Of course making your own is even better but we don't always have time or energy. Avoid takeaways for now as they are usually high fat and not great for digestion. I am surviving pre op on just a few things as everything sets off pain but jacket potatoes are OK for me (no butter, I add fat free toppings). Smoothies, protein shakes (and soups as others mentioned) are good if you cannot take too much solid food. I can't eat chocolate but have white mints, jellies or mallows for fat free sweet treat now and then. Good luck. x

Just a heads up. .. what may be hard for you to process now, over time , will be easier to digest if you introduce slowly back into your diet. I couldn't eat tomatoe sauces/ drink oj/ or handle much fat intake after my surgery as well... now 6 months later , i am able to slowly handle it alot better. I had to dilute to the oj for awhile. The same with tomatoe sauces when 1st eating them again and doing only small amounts of them. Also taking prilosec and a probiotic helped immensely! I also am only able to eat half portions since my surgery. I lost 35 pounds with my surgery, a horrible way to do it, but in a part, a blessing in its own way. And i dont plan on putting it back either! Good luck with your journey and just listen to your body and take it slow..

No experience of afterwards yet, but you will still have nerve endings that will think your Gb is still there, so phantom pains are common apparently. Hopefully they will wear off soon as your body adjusts to its new plumbing x
