Anyone recovered/recovering from Osteomyelitis?

Posted , 21 users are following.

I've had five surgeries and five picc lines to treat chronic acute osteo in my lower jawbone. I still have severe pain, albeit the swelling is minimal. I am not sure if I should get more testing/x-rays done or move on to a pain management specialist. Seems like osteo specialists/infectious disease specialists aren't interested in figuring out why I'm suffering in pain still.

Could the infection still be hidden in the bone? It sounds like you’ve had so many treatments of antibiotics it should have killed the bug but what it sounds like you could be taking antibiotics for the rest of your life...

And as a fellow osteomyelitis yaw sufferer that sounds like hell.

I guess we keep the on fighting the good fight.

    Hi everyone

I’ve been on oral antibiotics now for a week. During that time my jaw (osteomyelitis of mandible) is hurting and now I’ve developed a 🤒 fever. I left a message for my doctor 👨???. Does the infection come back that quickly?

I had an ultrasound of my hip which showed nothing. No cortisone shot because of the actinomycetes odontological. Nothing to helping my psoriatic arthritis for a year.  So sorry to hear that the hip pain you have still is not diagnosed. My heart ?? goes out to you.

      Dear Teresamarie,

If you have a fever above 100 you can goto any ER and receive help ASAP.  They may not be able to do much for you, but at least give you proper medical attention and monitor you until your temperature gets back to normal.  Before my osteomyelitis finally showed up on a CT scan I was on oral antibiotics for almost a year.  When you’re admitted into an ER request a consult with an infectious disease doctor.  I believe I had a pretty bad case but upon one of my trips to the ER for a temperature they found an abscess on my tonsil that I would’ve never known about.  Keep advocating for yourself, you deserve to feel better.  My prayers go out to you
