Anyone take Ranitidine (Zantac) long term with success?

Hello! I have successfully got off PPI's after years of daily use. I've made lots of diet and lifestyle changes, but still easily get heartburn and reflux. Ranitidine works great, but I've read that if taken everyday, it loses it's effectiveness after 2-6 weeks and your body develops a tolerance to it meaning that it stops working as well over time. Has anyone taken Ranitidine long term? If so, what have your experiences been? Has it continued to work? Or did you develop a tolerance where it stopped working as well over time? Thanks for your feedback!

Susan, thanks for your reply. Like you, I don't have the reflux like I did when I started the PPI, but still get heartburn every day very easily. I'm glad to hear that Ranitidine has continued to work even after 6 months of use. Do you use Ranitidine every day?

yes 150mg twice a day even that does not control my symptoms though . actually i am trying to quit acid suppressor . i never had any acid problem i was prescribed ppi for wrong reason after taking those for 4 weeks when i stoped them i started experiencing hyperacidity . i thought i might have some issues . i wasn't aware of rebound so i went to doc and they gave me more . by the time i knew about rebound its too late . i can't believe its possible to produce so much acid . i quit ppi bcos i could not tolerate it anymore . it was like hell globus for 8 mpnths even after taking double dose , regurgitation, jamed esophagus, undigested food came back to mouth every now &then .
so i decided to stop taking those hell of a rebound i went through even after taking 450mg of zantac. after 2 months all those symptoms gone globus , regurgitation, indigation . but now i have stomach pain feels like ulcers.
i don't want to go back on them but if rebound gave me ulcer i might have to . my acidity reduced a bit as now i feel good on occasion which i never had during ppi. its never ending cycle i know i can't believe i going through all this just bcos one stupid doc prescribed me this s***. i have no quality of life . i am eating bland diet for nearly 8 months and still suffering like hell.
if you r feeling good on zantac you can go off in time your body will adjust trust me
