anyone try antibiotics for slightly inflamed appendix

Dr said I had slightly inflamed appendix after looking at my CT scan. Said just going to watch it a while. Has anyone tried antibiotics and been successful? I'm worried about just letting it stew without treatment

Yes, I had a situation a year and a half ago where I had colitis and appendicitis at the same time. I met with a surgeon who felt that the antibiotics used to treat my colitis would cure me of my appendicitis too. And it did.
Fast forward to last weekend where I had appendicitis again, and ended up having my appendix removed this time. This surgeon also said if I really wanted to, we could try just antibiotics (and no surgery), but that I would probably just end up in the ER again with appendicitis in the future. He said that's typically what happens when you try to just treat it so that it goes away; it usually comes back.

I had a similar response that bakersdozen12 had. My surgeon said that treating appendicitis with antibiotics is not the standard of care. It has a 20% failure. Meaning you will probably suffer from appendicitis again in the future. At this time, it is reserved for people who are too old for surgery or are in a submarine and can't get the appendix taken out.

I had antibiotics as I was misdiagnosed with a kidney infection and it made no difference and a week later I had my appendix out!
