Anyone used a TENS machine after THR?

Hi all

I'm just over a year since my surgery for total right hip replacement (ceramic and titanium).

I wondered if anyone has used a TENS machine after? I have pain on the left (unoperated side) and also lower back. Just wanted to check if it was safe?

Hope everyone is well!

Thank you

Caron

    Dear Caron

It is not unusual for people who have had hip replacement surgery to have been walking in a difficult way before and indeed after the surgery to suffer from back problems.

I suggest that if you are suffering from back pain that you should make an appointment to see a chiropractor. They will take a full history of you before checking you over. They should then discuss with you what they have found and explain what actions they feel are necessary to return your back to a normal and balanced state.

A back that is not right can be the reason for many pains in different parts of the body and getting it checked is a quick way to find out if this is at the root of your problems. I have a lot to thank chiropractors for but am the first to acknowledge that like doctors some are better than others!

    Good luck. Richard

      Thanks Richard,

I don't have continual back pain, it's usually because I've got hip pain, so I've slept on one side all night. Thankfully it's not bad, just feels like it's in need of a deep rub. Thought a TENS machine might be a good alternative to more medication.

I have seen plenty of physio and chiros, totally agree, some are better than others!

      Cheers,

      Caron

I would ask your doc but I used mine the first day home.  IT has done little for me ever.
