Anyone used moisture chamber glasses?

Hi I was diagnosed with Sjogrens syndrome in 2012. I was told by my Consultant to try moisture chamber glasses as I'm really struggling with dry eyes that feel gritty and are red alot of the time.

I would love to know if anyone has tried any and where they got them from. Ideally I would like them to be prescription glasses and have them fitted correctly but most are via a website rather than a shop /optician.

    Hello Nickie

I posted this to someone else on this forum very recently and have copied then amended it to send on to you.

I wear multifocal glasses in which moisture shields have been inserted between the frames and the lens.  I have been wearing these for the past 20 years and do not know where I would be today without them.  My eyes are so dry that I would hardly be daring to venture out anywhere.  I am certainly the only one in my state of Victoria and possibly in all of Australia who uses these shields.  I first heard of these through the Moisture Seekers Association USA and have had to get them imported and buy all six lots in the packet.  There is (was?) only one dealer who did this in Victoria when I got my last lot in 2011 (and the last time they were ordered in before that was also for me).  The company making these is called Eagle Vision and they are in Memphis.  They will come up on the Internet if you put in Memphis as well.  Whether they are still making these now I do not know - change is so rapid these days.  The shields are a pain to fit and you have to get someone who is prepared to do it for you as the rectangular piece of 'plastic' provided has to be cut to fit your face and it takes time. (An instruction sheet is sent with the shields to tell you how to do it.)  I found such a man in a suburb about 8 kilometres from where I live and he is ever so patient and has fitted the shields for me 3 or 4 times now but even so it isn't easy.  I haven't seen anyone else on this forum mention these shields in the about 2 1/2  years I have been on it so I don't know whether there is something better out there.  I also wear almost perfect fit wrap-around sunglasses but these are not prescription lenses, a bit of a problem as my long distance vision deteriorates but I manage so far.

Please feel free to ask me anything else about them.  I will help if I can.

    Best wishes, Maureen

I am in the UK and purchased my first pair of chamber sunglasses on line, fabulous, so I then went to the opticians to ask if they had anything similar. They were able to put prescription lenses in sports goggles which have moisture chamber inserts. To be honest I feel a bit of a prat walking around with them so only use them for driving and use the proper moisture chamber sunglasses for walking about. My vision isn't brilliant but vanity plays it's part in life! Don't be afraid of the internet site, they are genuinely very good although I can't remember which one it was but I don't think there are that many. They cost about £40 I think which may help.
