Anything to consider for Monofocal & Trifocal for Toric IOLs ?

My mother is getting the Toric IOLs. The Doctor recommended the Toric Monofocal ones.
However, previously we were looking at non-toric IOLS and at the time he had recommended the PanOptix Trifocal IOLs. But since her astigmatism was at the borderline range, he decided on Toric.
Does anything change for the Toric IOLs when it comes to Monofocal vs Trifocal argument ?
I understand the differences and important factors when deciding between both(thanks to the vast number of experiences shared on this forum), However I wasn't sure if there was something else to consider while making that decision when going for Toric.

I will be of limited help as I don't have significant astigmatism.
From what I read you need a certain amount of astigmatism before using a toric IOL, such as 1.0 D.
Also placement is more critical with a toric lens such as tilt.
There are several difference when comparing a monofocal to a trifocal and associated side effects. Those issues might be of greater concern than toric lens or not. But you brought up something that is really interesting and that is, is a toric lens less risky with a monofocal. I would imagine lens placement would be even more critical with a trifocal toric, but I don't know.

The Alcon toric lenses have a reputation for staying in the right angular position to correct astigmatism. Tecnis have come out with a more recent version that is supposed to be better (Toric II?). I would stick with the Alcon AcrySof IQ (monofocal) or the Alcon PanOptix (trifocal). Toric lens surgery is more complicated as the lens angular position is critical to get a good correction. Even small angular errors can significantly reduce the astigmatism correction.

Thanks. I am sure the doctor would be aware of the importance of proper alignment, But I will certain stress over it during the postsurgery checkup.
So nothing extra to consider when deciding between Monofocal and trifocal for toric lenses, correct ?

No. All I can think of is that a toric lens surgery is more complicated. Trifocal is more complicated than simple monofocal. The complexity of the operation kind of stacks up with non toric monofocal as the simplest and toric trifocal as the most complex.

All I can add is that I had Toric Symfony (Abbott) lens inserted 4 years ago (following cataracts) and have had few problems since. I had been short sighted and astigmatic since about the age of five and am now largely without glasses for the first time in over 60 years. In the last six months vision in my left eye deteriorated due to posterior capsular opacification (POC), but this was easily corrected with YAG laser. At some point in the next year I will probably have YAG treatment on my right eye - when it deteriorates to the point where it impacts on my vision.
