Apixaban and Lower Back Pain

Dear All,

I am currently awaiting a CT Scan as an in patient to establish the cause of six days of chronic right hand side lower back pain.

The Consultants treating me are of the opinion that it is a kidney infection or an internal bleed as a side effect of Apixaban.

Has any member of the group experienced such a side effect when taking Apixaban.

Quite worried!

    hi nige i am on apixiban have been on it for 2mnths i havent had anything like you but have had very bad itching from tabs. been prescribed antihistamines by doc but arent working.seen hospital doc yesterday who has changed meds but i have not got them yet.if your not happy then speak to the doc again or your own GP like i did.if your hospital is like ours you dont get told anything.you have to see your own doc to find things out.keep in touch. hope you get out of hospital soon.

    To update.

    I was admitted to hospital to eliminate an internal bleed.

    It transpires that I had a kidney infection and nothing related to Apixaban!
