    hello mary

yiur consultant will ask yiu medical questions and also about yiur symptoms.

they will give yiu an internal examination of the vagina where they will check what areas of weakness you have . it wzsnt painful at all just a but awkward if yiu know what I mean๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

I have a fab professor Urogynacologist who I feel really comfortable with which makes it easier.

my consultant wouldnt repair my back wall the same time as anterior and hysterectomy asvit can make vag too small for intercourse. I am age 51 so I'm classed as young lol funny hey.

anymore questions just ask. I got my appointment November 25th for a check up on the back wall as I feel it's got a bit more annoying. he knows i want it repaired. x

Don't have a rectocele repair if you can manage it in other ways, At the vulval society meeting last week a gynae consultant reported that between 15% and 50% of pelvic repairs result in chronic permanent pain. I'm in a real mess now after a rectocele repair. Wish I had never had it done, it was manageable, if I had been told what might happen, I wouldn't have had it done unless it involved severe faecal incontinence..., it didn't.

My surgery failed after a few weeks, and have now learned to manage with laxido and magnesium. my pudendal nerve was damaged during surgery, three and a half years ago, and I can't sit down now, or do anything else much. Google pudendal neuralgia and you get the idea. Lots of women are damaged by this surgery. Don't have it unless your problems are really severe, I'm in a fb group, and so many ladies have permanent pain, no cure, it's for life. Yes I'm in the Uk.

wow that's awful.. I've not heard of thus with the ladues j know but everyone is different. I guess it all depends on a number of this doesnt it. surgeon, technique they use, bodily types ete etc etc.

what a tragic outcome. what I'm finding now is when I do my pelvuc floor e exercises I feel irritated down in vag towards the back end. dont seem to get it if I leave off for a few days.

kegals irritate the hell out of the pudendal nerve. Just bear in mind it was a top consultant who was lecturing gynaes the day before, and warned them not to do pelvic surgeries unless absolutely necessary. If its so bad you can't carry on a normal life, that's your choice. It's too late once damage is done, no going back.

yes I agree.. I've been very lucky after my antierior and tvh. no pain afterwards just cramps first few days.

I've started doing more kegals so I'm guessing it's the muscles njt being used .

I've no pain at all so that's good. yiur right it's too late afterwards and noone knows how patients body will react. you would think after all these years and women suffering after child they off though of a cure for failed ops and expecting ladies to go through this as if childbirth isn't enough.

A tight pelvic floor isn't good for the pudendal nerve, can cause a lot of issues if overly tight. Once a nerve is damaged or entrapped, or even has scar tissue due to overhealing, the pain is dreadful. This is the main nerve that supplies all of the genital area, and easy to damage during surgery. It's changed my life, I'm in pain all the time, no cure.

I was told i had a prolapse which i wasnt aware of at the time. I know i suffered a little with emptying bowels properly but it wasnt really a issue. I was more concerned about the prolapsed pile i had, which was unpleasant but not painful. I ended up having rectocele surgery 2 weeks ago. Im suffering quite a lot if im honest. Im completely unable to empty my bowels fully and using laxido daily. I have a constant pressure and the feeling of wanting to go toilet all day long. I have suffered horrendously from sore thrombosed piles, some of which have been infected. Also whilst sitting down on the toilet i feel 2 bulges either side of the vagina. Most days feeling like everything is going to fall out which is worse when coughing. I know its early days and i do hope in time it all heals but after reading this thread, I have to say im quite worried.

LUCY, It's post surgical swelling that you have at this stage, its very early days, it can take up to a year to totally heal.

The two swellings sound like your bartholin glands which are swollen, ask your gp if that doesn't go. The internal stitches take weeks to break up and come out, and the deep ones can take months. In the meantime, everything will start to tighten up and feel painful. Give it time. No lifting , squatting or much of anything at this stage.

      Just rest and heal.

sorry if i sound like I'm going on but I guess this is what this site has been designed for, patients worried about various things and seeking advice from people who may have experienced the same or similar. I was wondering if you or anyone on this thread has experienced the stitches after surgery coming out? Obviously just over 2 weeks post surgery and i have noticed whilst in the shower this morning quite a long piece of string coming from the bottom area... its blue in colour and quite thick so im huessing its the stitch. Although ive tried to remove it gently its stuck to something further up and im reluctant to pull as i dont want to cause any further damage to myself... will this just come away eventually or do i need to go to the doctors tomorrow. I dont like wasting doctors time hence the reason i ask through the forum. Thanks in advance

Yes I remember a really long one, leave it or if its a long way out cut it shorter, if not just leave it, some stitches break up, but this wont and should come totally out in a day or so, you don't want to take something out that is holding tissue together.

If you're still worried in a day or so, make a nurses appointment and they will take it out if need be.

please dk not touch any thread yiu see or feel. that can compromise the repair and yiu font want to do that.

see your gp tk morrow to check asap. otherwise leave it to the nurses or doctor.
