Appt Thurs for BV. Take metrogel now or wait?

Been battling bv for a while. My doctor gave me an extra prescription for metrogel because the BV keeps recurring, so I have a box of it here. I made an appointment with my gynecologist for Thursday but I'm wondering if I should use the metrogel now or wait until I get examined. Can she still do all of the usual swabs and pelvic if I'm using the gel or will it skew the results?

Normally I'd just use the gel and it would probably go away for a while, but I just came off a 7 day tindamax (2 x 500mg per day) regimen for bv. My ovaries feel like they hurt. Figured I'd get it checked out and see if it's just the usual bv or something else.

Thoughts?

I'm sorry you are dealing with bv. If it was me I would wait. Metrogel didn't work for me. I have also read stories from others that said the same thing. I would eat plain greek yogurt if you can and drink plenty of water. I would cut out sugar as much as possible before your appointment on Thursday. I would also take a probiotic called Rephresh Pro-B. These are some things that really helped me. I haven't had it again in about a year.

I would wait to use it, but that’s just me. I’m not sure if it would throw off results or not. My BV has been horrible.. there is a constant odor no matter what I do. I hope we all find the cure... and I hope this goes away eventually and doesn’t haunt my life forever! Which it seems to be doing so far.

    Good luck!

Thank you both for your replies. I take a 30 billion pro biotic from Ultimate Flora every day, but I do have some of the rephresh pro-b here that I'll add in as well. Metrogel usually works for me if it's a mild case of bv, but this bout seems to be worse. I did use a boric acid capsule vaginally last night. That's a new thing for me, as my doctor recommended it to me the last time I saw her. I'll hold off on the metro and see what the doctor says.

Ah sugar, good point about cutting that out as much as possible. I'll focus on that as well. And alcohol too, I suppose. Yes bv is terribly frustrating, isn't it?!
