Are anxiety and depression making me dumber?

Hi, Im a 20 year old male and I strongly believe Im getting dumber and dumber by the day the reason being i cant do anything, ANYTHING basic anymore like cleaning, writting, understanding simple things or even making a sandwich (Im not joking, ask the subway where I tried to apply) on top of that my memory is really bad, taking subway as example again the boss had to constantly remind me how to cut the bread, what were the bread types, ingredients, basically everything for eight hours straight! Oh but it doesnt end there, you know, i want to become an artist (a mangaka of some sorts) guess how many years I've been studying the basic human poses.... 3 years with no avail, oh but wait, here comes the best part, you ready? Yeah, I cant even walk correctly and my legs and feet are perfectly fine... You know this whole thing started just after I finished high school, something happened and I've been depressed since then, anxiety came shortly after with a glorious sweat problem (We are talking Josh Nicols levels). The thing is I was not this stupid before depression and anxiety striked me, it only started evolving after, day by day, at the start I thought it was just nervousness or bad luck getting in the way but now looking at the whole picture I dont know what to do.... I just need some help... please...

Sounds like anxiety mate but id go see the doc and explain all of this to him/her.. could have some sort of nervous system thing going on.. not trying to make your anxiety worse or anything but they may be able to sort you out with some meds to help the situationĀ

Hi Daniel,  yup sounds like anxiety.  It takes over fast.  But I agree with the other comments to see your GP just to make sure all is well.  And you do sound very intelligent.  You're young so it's probably nothing.  Anxiety seems to be hitting a lot of young people.  You guys have a ton of pressures.  I'm an artist but I'm not accomplished.  Lately I've been painting and reading the Bible to help with my anxiety.  What are you just naturally good at?  Do whatever that is for a short time.  Breath, eat healthy, exercise (I mean push yourself hard if you have no health issues).  High school was organized and you didn't have to worry.  Now you're in the real world and you need to take control now before it takes control of you.  If something's not working after you've tried then drop it and start something new.  Don't be afraid!  You got this!  You're young, smart and very aware of yourself.  This is a great time spread your wings! Oh and the human body is so hard to master.  Get some water paints and have fun! ??

If you can't focus maybe you have ADHD? Explain yourself to your Doctor they can help you. I don't understand how the walking is affected. I do sometimes stumble but it's because I'm very distracted and don't look and wasn't walking right. You're not dumb. You probably have trouble learning things or focusing. Ask your GP👍💕Take Care
