Hi all. Iv experianced deppression for a number of years and tried quite a few different meds, iv now been on sertraline 100 mg for about 4 months now , and im feeling a lot better , apart from the occasional bad day , my problem is i have always had a good sex drive , but since taking the tabs im not as bothered any more , i can take or leave it , but when i do i cannot reach a climax , the normal sensations that i have seem to have gone , and i feel a bit numb , my body sensations dont seem to work right , this is very frustrating , its causing my husband to think it is something he is doing wrong , i have never before had a problem with sex before so this is very unusual. is there any other women are are experiancing this problem?

Have you discussed this with your doctor? I understand it is a common side-effect of sertraline (although less common for women than men) and there may be additional medication your GP can prescribe to help you. Viagra is often used in this respect and can be successful for both women and men.

I have been on it for nearly 4 weeks, I have the same problem but havent climaxed yet and its crazy!! Sex drive is still there though. Saw Doctor told him about this and said I couldnt live like this. He said give it another 2-3 weeks to see if it sorts it self out.

thank you for replying to my thread, sorry but its been a while since i been on here . im still having trouble with climaxing, im so frustrated now but glad i got some replies off people who are going through the same thing... im going to show this to my husband who is starting to think it his him at fault. I still have my sex drive but it seems that climaxing is just not happening , at some point i think im getting there then something blocks it from happening , so then i become all tense and it becomes a viscious circle. im starting to put off having sex in case it happens again but im now sexually frustrated ... ... aww well maybe next time will be fireworks lol

thank you all for your replies :D

I know exactly what you are saying, the exact same thing is happening with me. And my husband also finds it frustrating, and initially worried it was him. But he knows now its the tablets.

One thing we tried and worked was using a vibrator (rampant rabbit). We tried it and I maaged to climax twice! What a relief. But only cause its powerful and my senses feel a it numb down there since I have been on the tablets. My husband likes it that I get satisfied and it turns him on, so all is not lost babydoll, get down to Ann Summers and release that tension.

Sadly my husband has been able to make me climax since I have been on the pills, but at least its an incentive for me to come off these in a few months hopefully.

Its been 6 months since i started the medication, and I am happy to say my sex drive and ability to climax has returned to normal and yes still taking Sertraline 50mg. So hang in their ladies, there is hope for you.
