Are feeding tubes an option!

My stomach issues from ibs are getting worse! I don’t know what to do! In all honesty. I feel fine when I’m not eating. But as soon as any sort of food enters into my stomach. I am always so sick! It doesn’t matter what food is being put inside me. I will always feel sick, I’ve even been following the fodmap diet and I have tried so many different kinds of medicines and none of them have worked. It doesn’t matter if the food I’m eating is healthy or not I will always feel sick, bloated, constipated, or feel like I have diarrhea. And I am in so much pain and nothing is working and I feel like food is just making it worse for me and I don’t know what to do. I don’t ever wanna eat, so I’m just eating like small things like a banana or a protein bar and that’s all I eat. But then I only eat a little, I’m still in pain and I feel like I’m gonna vomit. I’m headed to the doctors soon hopefully this month or next month. So is there anything I can ask my doctor that I can do different. Or different ways of eating where I won’t get sick and I can maintain a healthy weight. I was wondering if a feeding tube would work, and if people with ibs have actually ever used a feeding tube? Is that something I could ask my doctor or he’d recommend for me? I just don’t wanna eat anymore. Ever! I have a friend who needs to use a feeding tube. Because she can’t digest and absorb nutrients like me.

Have you been checked for any other problems i.e. gastritis, ulcers, gallbladder etc? I do know what you mean by not wanting to eat. I got to a point where my ibs caused me to not tolerate most all but several foods and drink. I got my gallbladder out and now am so sick and in such pain that I no longer can tolerate even water. Have gastritis more than likely. Will be getting endoscopy soon.
I don't know about feeding tube but that might be an option although not a desired one. How long have you had ibs and what foods can you tolerate?

Perhaps try food replacement drinks. You could ask your doctor to prescribe them or get them from your chemist.

Hey makenna,
Sorry you have to go through this. It must be painful.
Feeling not good after eating with feeling of vomiting and bloating can be seen in IBS and also gastritis( hyperacidity), Stomach ulcer, Food indigestion etc.
I would suggest you should see your doctor and hope he/ she can confirm the diagnosis of your symptoms.
Meanwhile you can try over the counter gastritis medication like ranitidine (75mg ) on empty stomach in the morning. After half an hour you can eat anything.
You can also try over the counter digestive enzymes. And see if that helps.
If you are taking any NSAIDS like aspirin or ibuprofen just for pain and not for any another condition then you should ask your doctor to discontinue it.
Feeding tube is not a good option provided you have indications for that. Which can be decided by your doctor. In my thought, whatever symptoms you have given, you don't need that.
Hope you get well soon.

your symptoms do sound like something related to food intolerances or indigestion....as a sufferer of gastritis in the past...this does not seem indicative to me of gastritis but rather severe ibs. An endoscopy is a good idea. Constipation and bloating of course go hand in hand with indigestion.
