Are my numerous symptoms all related to anxiety or is there something seriously wrong with me?

I'm worried there’s something seriously wrong with my health but unsure if it’s all down to my anxiety. Going to doctors doesn't help as I always feel fobbed off. I'm a female, 27, about 1/2 stone overweight (according to my height etc), I eat well (vegetarian but try to eat the right foods to ensure I’m getting the correct nutrients), I have probably drank far too much in the past but seriously cut down recently as it makes anxiety 100x worse & I’m so worried for my health.

Earlier this year I had a chest infection which I was given antibiotics for, the infection cleared but soon after I started to experience chest pain & breathing difficulty & thought I might be having a heart attack. At the same time I began to have diarrhea - doctor said pain was just muscular & gave me codeine and diarrhea was side effect of antibiotics. I still experience chest pains, they normally seem to be located on my inner & outer breasts. I also suffer from upper back, neck & shoulder pains (possibly due to my desk job) so don’t know if the chest pain is related?

I also have a near constant headache, it's not severe in pain at all, almost just like a permanent linger.

I'm still suffering from bad stools, which a lot of the time are yellowish in colour and i don't seem to have digested my food properly. I don't get too much stomach pain but I do get the odd very sharp uncomfortable pain, which can be on either side of my abdomen. I urinate very frequently but do also drink a lot of water. I have always suffered from hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) but recently I am having very bad night sweats, I don’t know if it’s the time of year but just another symptom that seems to have happened around the same time as the rest!

When I have been to the doctors a few times this year, I don't get much response. When they take my blood pressure, it's always slightly above normal so they said they would put me on a list for a 24 hour ECG but I've not been contacted yet.

I’m petrified that I am going to have a heart attack or have some kind of cancer but I genuinely don’t know if all of these symptoms have been mostly caused by my anxiety and stress (I’ve also had a pretty crappy year personal-life-wise). As I said, the doctors don’t seem bothered and if it is nothing, I don’t want to keep wasting their time but I don’t feel right and haven’t for a long time.

Any advice will be hugely appreciated. Thank you x

    Christine,

You are totally fine. Stop looking for something you don't have. I'm pretty sure if you do have something the doctors would have found it by now. Anxiety is a scaRyan thing. If you think about it toon much it will consume you. Trust me I've been there. I used to think I had heart problems. I still do. But I've done every test and my heart is healthy. I still get alot of palpitations. They scare me but I don't put much mind to them. As I've been told they are harmless since my heart is healthy. Also my blood pressure is always a tad high when I go to the Doctor and that's because I'm really nervous. My Heart rate shoots up to like 110 when it's always a nice 65 or 70 BPM. So naturally my blood pressure shoots up. Look to change your living lifestyle as that seems to contribute a lot to anxiety and it's symproms. Start slow if you can't handle it. Go for walks everyday. Eat really healthy. Drinks lots of water. And unstress yourself. I'm not saying the pain or thoughts will go away but it does help alot. Also try therapy. It helps alot. I had to stop Cuz money is tight right now. The way you handle stress and anxiety causes damage to you if you don't handle it correctly. So live your life and don't let this get in your way of accomplishing a happy life. I'm sorry but the cold truth is that anxiety does not go away. You have to learn to live with it. If possible stay away from the Internet. Please. Good luck!

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I know you are right and I know that if there really was something wrong with me, then I would have dropped down dead by now, it's just hard to tell myself that at times. My loving partner has just lost too many people recently and I dread to think what would happen to him if something did happen to me.....I think that may be where a lot of this pressure comes from. You are definitely right about staying off the internet, I think I just needed some reassurance that I am not the only one feeling this way (not that I want anybody else to be feeling like this!!) as it makes you realise perhaps....how silly you're being. I am really trying hard with the eating and drinking well as I know certain lifestyle choices do have a bad impact.

Sorry for the second essay! Thanks again smile

Hi, have you been checked to see if you have Mitral Valve Prolapse? I discovered I had it back when I was 20 and I am now 27 it is a non serious heart condition and it won't kill you or cause a heart attack. Yet it will cause chest pain heart palpitations, feeling of your heart skipping a beat, which is all harmless. Also I just recently discovered it will cause panic attacks, anxiety, depression and fatigue. It's due to a imbalance of the autonomic nervous system. It is completely harmless though. They did an ultra sound on my heart and found it back then. Sometimes a doctor can listen to your heart and hear a click but not all the time. Something to possibly check out. Other than that relax its all just anxiety :-)
