Are my symptoms normal?

Hi All,

I just recently got diagnosed with mono. Symptoms have been present now for a week and half but i am getting concerned if these are normal symptoms with the virus or it could be something more serious.

I have severe pressure in the back of my head. It is making sleeping difficult as I cannot sleep certain positions as it will elevate the pain of the pressure so its been tough. I also had a throbbing headache last night in the same area. Some of the soreness has traveled traveled down to my shoulders.

The back of my head is also tender to touch. My eyes also have similar throbbing pressure. I have taken advil but not giving me full relief.

I am just worried if its something else. Something more serious.

FYI- the pressure and soreness has been there since start of the virus but all of sudden in last two days has gotten severe.

    Hi Marie

Ive been sick with mono for the past 2 weeks but have had symptoms for probably the past 3 or 4. My first symptom was a terrible throbbing headache. It wasnt a normal headache, it almost felt like my actual skull was throbbing. It did hurt to sleep. My shoulders/ upper back region were very sore at times, especially when showering or having to lift objects or write. I think these are both normal symptoms. As for the eyes, mine became and still are very inflammed and swelling, but never any pain. However, If any of your pain is extremely severe, I would probably call a doctor.

thanks sophia! gives me some comfort. The pain is subsiding now so I guess just the affects of the virus.

As soon as I felt progress, these headaches came up. I hope it gets better.

Do you feel any progress since?
