Are numb swellings and mild fever associated with MS?

I've been ill for over 4 years with an undiagnosed illness. The symptoms seem to all fit with MS and I had an MRI that was inconclusive. It showed lesions that "may have been from ischemic glyotic change rather than demylination". I have had a constant low grade fever (37.4 - 38.5) for 4 years. Also, I have areas of very slight swelling on my lower legs, right thigh and right arm that are completely and totally without feeling. The swellings have been ultrasound and MRI'd with nothing showing up, and also 5 biopsies were taken from one of them that only showed some inflamation in the cells The neurologist seemed to think that because of those things, the illness I have is not MS. Has anyone with diagnosed MS got these symptoms?

I probably should have mentioned, I have been diagnosed with Tietze Syndrome and Fibro/ CFS but the neurologist and infectious diseases drs thought that there is something else going on before all that. The IF Dr tested for diseases he knew of that could cause numb swellings, and I'm happy to report that I don't have TB or leprosy lol But seriously, if anyone can answer my original question, I'd be very grateful smile

I've seen numbness and swelling mentioned a lot with MS (I've had numbness) but not heard of fever. Have they done a lumbar puncture for oligoclonal bands/proteins? That should be an indicator

No, they haven't done anything to test for MS other than the MRI a couple of years ago. I don't know how you tell a specialist that you want them to do particular tests. They don't take it well if you try to tell them their job lol At least she referred to the infectious diseases dr, as she could see there was something going on, and she thought it wasn't MS. The first neuro I saw, seriously, looked in my eyes with a torch and said he couldn't see any spots (an opthalmologist was concerned with fine flecking he could see on my retinas) and told me I was probably depressed. sad

i was diagnosed with MS in 2004, i've found that there's a lot of info and support at the MS society's website, that;s where i go, anyway. i can't remember ever seeing a post from anyone saying that they had swellings. i typed the keyword 'swelling' in the search part of the site, it doesn't look like swelling IS a symptom, sorry, not much help i'm afraid. numbness definitely IS a symptom, though.

    good luck.
