Are there any help groups out there?

I was diagnosed with genital herpes a few weeks ago.....like the rest of you my world came crashing in an I feel as if life as I knew it is over. I feel so ashamed and embarrassed, I'm only 38 and hadn't given up hope of being a father but now I wonder how on earth would anyone want to try and have children with me and risk catching this?

Although I feel awful about all of this I have no one to blame but myself, I was irresponsible and therefor need to get on with it, however, I was wondering if there are any help groups/meetings I could attend in Scotland? I am hopeful that talking face to face with other sufferers may boost my confidence and self esteem. Thanks in advance.

Don't know of any in Scotland but I do recommend you join the hva (herpes virus association) they are great and helped me come to terms with it a lot...

Hi, p25910. I agree with Sarah24, HVA are a good crew to get to know. They put this whole 'H' thing in perspective and give excellent advice. You could also maybe benefit from joing H-YPE, a social network and support site. We all need support with this and these two could help you, too. Good luck.

I've tried posting the web sites but it won't post for some reason. Search for Project Accept (org). The imformation and support is amazing.
