Yeah, I'm trying not to panic! I'm feeling better about it now cause it seems to work for people in the long run!!

I'm only just past week one and I've had ups and downs.. Knowing it will get better gets me through and my story is no where near as hoffic as some that I've read. Every one is different with side effects and I just keep telling myself I'm lucky to not be experiencing the worst case scenario cause the more you read the more you convince yourself you're going to get them.

Yeah, it's good to have positive thoughts on it!!! i suppose everyone will react differently! I guess I've just got to play it out! Good Luck with it 😊 X

Since starting them a month ago I have had new problems dry mouth can't sleep wake up gasping for air or choking constantly tired spaced out no appetite I could go on whether these are due to the drug or if I would have got them anyway who knows but I do know I've never had the sleep problems before

I was previously on roaccutane for acne, which had its fair share of side effects (such as dry mouth) so I'll be able to cope with that! it's the sleep thing that worries me more as I sleep great just now!! I hope it passes for you, stick in there.

Hi Lori, it gets worse before it gets better. I guess you have to weigh the pros and cons and decide if you need it. It works, but you have to give it up to 2 months to start feeling better, so hang in there.

I don't want it to make me worse in the long run!! but if there's a light at the end of the tunnel it's definitely something I'm willing to persevere with!

There will be light at the end of the tunnel, but you have to give it time. I know this is the last thing any one of us wants to hear when we are suffering - give it time...while I suffer??

But you have to remind yourself that it is doing something inside you although you may not feel the effects that you want yet. Sometimes I think it's a cruel joke when they use the term patient for us folks going thru an illness..because we have to be patient for the med to work.

Hi Lori, I've been on sertaline for 6weeks now with a few increases in between. The first 1-2weeks weren't the nicest but everyone is different. My doctor told me it would get worse before getting better and that's true but stick with it, stay strong and positive and take every day as it comes. If you need to chat I'm here xxx

Thank you so much! I was told it'll probably get worse before better too! i'll just have to see how I feel over the next couple of weeks! it's just really good to know you're not in it alone! XX

No problem, if you do get bad days just remember it won't be forever and you will get better! I've actually had an 'ok' day today my first one after being on 100mg for 10days so I know it's working, I know I'll still get bad days but thankfully for a good day today. You will get through it, the worse for me was heightened anxiety and negative thoughts which lasted the longest. I had loss of appetite, which came back after about a week to 10days, dry mouth, headache, insomnia and nausea but I got through it. You might be lucky and not get bad side effects but don't be disheartened if you do just keep going. The meds take about 6-8weeks in get full effect plus 2-3weeks with every increase. You'll get there. Like I said I'm here if you need me xxx

Yes I was on 50 mg for 13 years it worked very well. I tried to lower my dosage with a doctors help because I feel I am in a better place than 13 years ago and it has not been easy. BUT-it definitely helped me tremendously. Hang in there.
