Are these stroke symptoms? :S

I have been getting pins and needles in my left arm and the left side of my face acompanied by an intense headache, which is then followed by vomiting. I went to the doctor and they sent me to have a blood test, where they took a lot of samples, and it came back that nothing is wrong with my blood, so I have been refered to the neurologist.

I get these symptons every-so-often and they started to occur around January time, and it is now about 7 months later...

I have been considering ringing 999 whenever i get these symptons because i just don't know if the doctors missed something? Are they making me wait on something that is potentially life threatening.

Also, should have mentioned, i am female, 16 years old and sporty, so quite fit and healthy.

Sounds a bit like migraine.  There are different degrees of intensity of migraine, and sometimes it can make you vomit.  My Mum had a really bad attack of it once and she felt a numbness in her face.  I have it too and recently had a bad one with difficulty walking in a straight line!  When I was younger (many years ago!) I used to have a stomach upset every weekend, which entailed intense and prolonged vomiting over the two days, along with a lot of pain in the stomach, the Doctor said it was a form of migraine, but in the stomach, caused by stress and worry - it does have many different symptoms.  However, never just accept anything the GP says to you, if you feel something is wrong keep on investigating and asking for other opinions.  The medical profession are not always right, as I know to my cost.  Good luck  :-)

Not that I am much of a supporter of a many in the medical profession, but the fact that they have given you an appointment for October and not made a point of seeing you immediately, must mean to them that what ever is causing the problem is not serious.  Worrying and stress will make migraine problems worse, so first of all try not to worry.  I know that's easier said than done, but if you can find something that relaxes you, music, yoga, meditation ???? - anything that you enjoy and takes your thoughts away from what ever is troubling you.  Also, maybe you could keep a diary of what you do, eat, use, feel each day, then maybe you can find a trigger to what causes the problems you experience.  It could be something really simple, such as eating a particular food - or knowing something is coming up, such as exams, tests, changes - in some ways we are not in control of our own body!!!  The fact that you are 16 says to me that you have just been doing your exams, maybe thinking about leaving school, or going on to further education, and this could be causing you stress and worry - even if YOU think it is not.  It is a big change to be at the age to leave the comfort of regular school and move on to something more adult.... it takes a bit of getting used to!  I don't think that there is really any medication that is useful for migraine (if it is that) just try and do anything that eases the headache - something cool placed on your head helps (and by cool I mean cold, but not direct ice!! maybe an ice pack wrapped in some cloth)  The best thing is to try to sleep, so anything that will relax you enough that you can get some sleep until it is over.  The problem is the vomiting, so all you can do is try to sleep and keep a bowl by the bedside - sorry!  .... So, try and keep a diary to see if you can find what causes it to happen, just write everything, no matter if it seems irrelevant, and especially how you feel - sad, happy, anxious, angry or whatever, and you might find the answer to resolving it.  When I get migraine I always want to drink shandy (beer and lemonade) - hahaha - not strong beer or anything, but it seems there is something in it that eases the head pain.  Some people say that cheese and chocolate CAUSE migraine, but - when I get migraine these are two things I seem to crave ????? so.... you just have to go with what feels right for you.  Hope you sort this out - and in the meantime - and more importantly - don't worry!!!!!!!   :-)

Yes I know what you mean about sleeping not helping. I often wake up with a bad head which lasts all day, through the night and all the next day too, so I understand. Anyway good luck with your appointment and I hope in the meantime that you don't get another attack. Yes keep me posted on how you get on. :-)

I'd have to agree with Babaloo on this one... Although anything is possible, TIA is usually a sign that a full blown stroke is on it's way from hours, days , a month or even longer, Usually vomiting isn't a symptom of a TIA . My advice would be seek a second opinion or if it occurs again call an ambulance and get it sorted out in your local emergency department.
