Are these typical symptoms of initial herpes outbreak?

Hi everyone,

So I had unprotected sex two weeks ago and about a week ago I noticed a sore on my labia and a few more have formed since then. They haven't been extremely sore but have stung a bit when peeing. I now have one extremely sore ulcer and a cluster of clear blisters. I haven't had any flu like symptoms or the typical "tingling" feeling. I have a fair amount of odourless pasty white discharge too.

imageimageThe current cluster is making me even more worried that it will be herpes. My question is for anyone who has been diagnosed with herpes, did you all have flu like symptoms and the tingling sensation? Or is there anyone who has a yeast infection or general bacterial infection that sounds/looks the same as mine? I have an appointment with the clinic on Wednesday but I have been driving myself crazy over the last week and just want to find out now! Any help would be appreciated. Photos attached are initial blister, a few days ago and today. imageimageimageimage

I'm so sorry sweetie but this is herpes. Herpes isnt as bad as you think. Things usually get better over time. Keep yourself healthy and see a doctor to discuss treatment options. ❤❤❤❤

Thanks everyone. I live in the countryside and the soonest appointment I could get is tomorrow. I booked it a week ago and have been driving myself crazy googling everything about herpes all week! I do know that it's not the end of the world and it's completely manageable, and obviously it could be so much worse. I've prepared myself for the worst but I'm being cautiously optimistic as it's possible it could be a yeast infection seeing as the only symptoms I have are the sores and discharge! I'm hoping they'll be able to give some indication tomorrow and I won't have to wait weeks for the result. Watch this space.

It does look like herpes. 😕

Not everyone gets the same / all the classic symptoms. I had no tingling or flu symptoms, but enough pain in my groin region to go to the ER (didn't know what was going on). I had tons of discharge and the docs were telling me it looked like BV/yeast/PID. I probably had some combination of those along with the sores.

Just to keep you all in the loop. It did turn out to be Hsv1. I was just one of the small number of people who get genital sores from it. When I first thought there was a chance I had herpes, I felt awful. Like it was the worst thing in the world. It was absolute torture waiting for my results, and so, to pass the time I read everything I could about herpes. My opinion on it changed so much over the week. I really wish we were all educated better on the topic. It really isn't as bad as it's made out to be. I do know that I'm lucky that I don't have hsv2, but please anyone that does get it, please remember that it really isn't a big deal. SO many people have it. Anyway, keep yourselves healthy and try not to spend too much time on sites like this. I became obsessed and was scrolling and scrolling for hours. And people will be very blunt with their answers which you really don't need right now! Best of luck everyone.

glad you are educating yourself and still gonna live a happy life and bot let a skin condition get you down! Did you tell the person you slept with? did the give you oral? they might not even know they have it .

I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis. But please educate yourself. At the end of the day herpes is herpes! The stigma around genital herpes (Hsv1 and Hsv2) is huge! There is no better or worse one to have nor are you any way more lucky that you have type 1! You still can transmit! You may even have more outbreaks then someone with type 2.

I don’t want to come across rude or offensive. But so many people including myself are working to try and decrease the stigma surround herpes and that includes the judgement between hsv1 and 2 oral or genital. It’s still herpes! If you would like some links I’ll happily mail them to you! Sorry again for the reply but it’s something I feel very strongly about! Regardless what strain it is you’ll get by and life will go back to normal 😃 hope your doing okay!
