Are you working with Menieres

I have been out of work since August 22nd even though I have short and long term disability it makes me uneasy being out this long. I’m in MICHIGAN and my family is encouraging me to try for disability but I’m not ready but is it fair for my co-workers? Anyone on disability for this awful condition. I never thought about it until I had all these complications since my surgery on 11/30.

I’ve always heard horrible stories about how long it took and the appeals that people had to go through to get their disability but it only took six months for me from the time I applied.
They sent me to a few of their Drs. probably to make sure I did have Menieres but that was all.
Menieres is a disability and it is considered a disability with Social Security.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
My prayers go out to you my friend having to suffer with this awful disease.

Hello Willow,
I totally understand how you feel, I've been off work since Feb 2017 due to my situation and was finally diagnosed in Aug by a specialist in Detroit; so far I was on Short term and since June I've been on Long term. I thought about my job, co-workers but then I remembered in 2016 I had severe vertigo and was so concerned about my job that I went back and I was feeling bad. And today; that decision has landed me to be in a worse situation. I was very worried about my job and my staff but then realized how about my suffering....nobody worries about that and you have to do what's important for your health as without your health you're nothing. I was replaced at my job as I was on long-term it affected me alot and I went into further depression hurting myself more, as it didn't affect anyone but my health. Sorry for the long answer to your question but work places do move on without their employees as in the end they have a business to run.....don't ruin your health. If you have the opportunity to take the time to heal and have the resources of disability then do it for you. As only you can only understand and feel what you need and want.....Take care😁

I’m have long term also and they keep telling me my job is protected but you never know. It’s just scary. Going to take one day at a time and try to heal.
Thank you

Hi Willow,
Once you go on SSDI, you'll be reviewed every 2 years. But if at any time, you feel like you're up to working again, they're very helpful. If I'm not mistaken, they try to help you get back into a job that pays the same as your previous work, and help you to get retraining if necessary. Also, they give you 9 months to try working aain. If at any time within the 9 months, you don't feel you can do it, you can resume your SSDI without having to reapply.
It's a very big decision, but your health has to come first! And it's comforting to know that there's help available if/when you need it. And who knows? You might find a treatment that's so effective for you, that you'll feel up to going back to work at some point.
Take good care of yourself....

I have been disabled from meniere's disease since 2009
I owned and operated my own business, and the progression of the disease
prevented me from working safely anymore. I would suggest to you that if you can't work due to the erratic symptoms of menieres, and you are taking the appropriate medication to help with controlling the symptoms
and are still suffering the wrath of the disease, I would consider disability
