Armpit rash/ blisters (photo included) How should I treat it?

Posted , 4 users are following.

I obviously don't want to bother my GP at the moment but this rash started 3/4 days ago. It's painful to the point it's waking me in the night, each spot is filled with liquid which I can move when touched. I tried to see the pharmacist but they're not seeing patients due to coronavirus.

  • Meds: Hydroxychloroquine and Vit D started 3 months ago
  • No new products used
  • Binned razor
  • Using salt water to keep clean
  • changing top daily to stop potential re-infection

Anyone know what it is and how to treat it?

Many thanks

Have you nicked yourself with a razor? I think you are doing all you can to heal it. It may be a bacterial or fungal infection or just contact dermatitis. If it starts to spread then you may need more help but just keep it washed, dried and covered for the moment.Hopefully it will heal on its own.It reminds me of a type of impetigo which usually "burns itself out" in a few weeks but obviously I cant be sure.

Nope haven't nicked myself that I know about. It's not getting any worse so hopefully like you say it will burn out. Thanks for the reply.

You can get a rash from the medication you are taking, can you not make a video call to your doctor or see a dermatologist? If it is that painful you need to get some treatment. A specialist needs to diagnose what it is for you. If it is a bacterial infection it could get worse or spread without antibiotics.

I've looked at the hydroxy rash and I don't think mine looks like it. At the moment my GP's arent doing video calls (UK) hopefully that will change soon. Yea Im not going to let it go on my longer without having it looked at but it's not spreading. I'm washing the flannel (wash cloth) I'm using daily and not wearing the same clothes. So fingers crossed it goes away. Thanks for messaging.

I get dermatitis and wash with dermol 500 lotion rather than soap because it is much kinder to my skin. You may want to try this and then you could try using it as a lotion when your skin is dry as well, it may help sooth it. You could try a telephone appointment with your doctor and tell them to look up the picture you posted because they can have an idea of what it may be then. Good luck.

After the rash spreading today I had to seek advice from the pharmacist who advised I see my GP. It's Shingles, I'm on antivirals and been told to use paracetamol and ibuprofen.

    Thanks for the replies.

Yes it's painful I was ok a few days ago but the nerve pain I'm getting now is awful just hoping there's no permanent damage to the nerve.

      Thanks

it was shingles. i was put on antivirals due to other health issues and it did disappear but ive been left with permanent nerve damage. if its shingles it will be extremely painful and in one area of the body. google shingles youll see on photos the areas of the body that can be affected.
