Started sertraline about 7 weeks ago. Gradual increase to 100mg which I have been on now for 3 weeks! I have the most horrendous diarrhea, not sleeping in nights, no energy in day and still no appetite!! I want to give up!! Doc suggested increasing to 150mg but can't cope with all these side effects ts getting worse! X

Been there .. done that . I just increased to 150 and the effects are no fun . Everyone says stick with it. It is NOT EASY! You are still very early in this game . Try to give the 100 mg at least two more weeks . See how you feel . Every increase causes anxiety. If you can stay on the 100 , I would stay there for a while . Let your brain get it figured out . This is one of the slowest working medicines . We are here for you !! You can do this !

Hi Sharon. I had increased to 125mg for over 3 weeks and then took a really bad panic attack and thought "here I go, back to square 1!" GP told me to increase to 150mg and use diazepam as and when necessary until the drug settles in my system. When I first started on sertraline nearly 11 weeks ago (50mg initially) I was adamant that I wouldn't use the diazepam, that I could handle the anxiety. But as you know, it's exhausting, so now I take the diazepam and hope that very soon the serteline will start to be effective. I have 2 or 3 runs to the loo every morning and my appetite isn't great. I've gone from 9st 10lb last July to 7st 10lb as off today. I'm frustrated that the sertraline is not yet working but my GP has said it's still early days with this drug. My mental health nurse said hat most people she treats with anxiety only see decline in anxiety at 150mg. I hope you're feeling better very soon. X

Hi Sharon
The loo thing is horrid. I get this with every increase. I am up to 150mg and my bum has been shocking. I resorted to taking one imodium tablet before bed and it worked. Doc said it was ok ..its worth a try ..good luck

I was on effoxor for 22 years and I loved it ! Last June I felt it had stopped working so , I slowly weaned off of it ... be prepared.. you are going to have to stay on this !!! The withdrawals are BAD !!! But it works !! I was only on 75 mg . I wish I would have increased it rather than change it . I am still kicking myself for going off it . Good luck . You should not have any side effects.. I didn’t.. but I was much younger then . Keep us updated .

My friend has said the same about withdrawals but if it helps I'm not coming off it! I can't cope with the side effects ts of sertraline and doc says they should have passed by now! Anxiety is sooooo frustrating what I would give to have my life back xx

Debbie, thank you and I hope your right. Feeling pretty hopeless at the minute. Been of work for 7 months pretty much isolated myself from everyone! Citalopram helped me for years. Was hoping the sertraline would do the same but hasn't. Find I'm drinking just to attempt to sleep. Hoping this will now be right drug for me. How you finding the sertraline now? X

Hi Sharon
Actually today I am feeling... ok not great just okay. Still have the brain fog but my anxiety is better today. Tomorrow might be a different story 😣. I have felt so awful since June of last year . I am going to stay on the 150 mg for a while and see what happens. I do have ringing in my ears and I hope it stops soon ! How is your dr going to make the transformation?
