hi there! I used to drink coke zero or diet dew and my liver enzymes were high. my liver was inflamed to 3 times its size plus I was so tired. my coworker suggested switching from diet to regular drinks and I did and now my liver enzymes are back to normal and I have more energy. i dont drink a whole lot of soda anymore.

Most of these drinks are sweetened with aspartame which, if you search, can cause a host of problems if you have too much of it. If you read the label it usually states that aspartame "contains a source of phenylalanine". I never knew what this meant but thought it sounded a bit dodgy. Now it's easy to look up what this means - and there are other problems with it too.

Listen to your therapist. Sweeteners are also bad because the brain reacts to them as if you'd just had sugar so your pancreas is overworked but then no sugar arrives. Your body is a finely tuned and very complicated mechanism - it wasn't designed to run on too much sugar (or sweeteners). Train your palate to enjoy simpler drinks - every flavouring and additive you take on board has to be dealt with (as a chemical) by your liver and kidneys. Your body is suffering enough already from the fibro and CFS - give it a break and eat and drink as cleanly as you can.
