Hi

I’ve read there could be a link between the cfs/me and aspartame consumption. Some articles say it can make symptoms worse.I drink around 4-6 cans of Diet Coke a day.Has anyone else got any thoughts on this or improved in cutting this from your diet.Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Well, there are tons of reasons(independent of cfs/me) that 4-6 diet cokes a day are a very bad idea. I believe any foreign substance such as a aspartame is certainly going to move your body further away from recovery.  Please know I’m not judging...just know that any kind of soda is really bad for you.

    Hi Keano,

I used to drink around 5/7 cups of coffee per day and my aspartame was in my sweeteners that I use. My son who is a Paranedic kept going on at about the sweetness and how the aspartame was no doubt making my symptoms worse. About 3 months ago I decided to cut it out and I did. I am still waiting for it to make a difference.  I personally think it’s rubbush.  Maybe if guy were taking it in abundance every day. But personally I don’t think that your 4/5 cans is coke per day is making any difference.

    Best wishes

    Hi

Thanks for your input took the decision to quit aspartame for the month of  March to see if it helps. It gets a really bad press on the net as it apparently breaks down into chemicals the human body can’t handle and turns into toxins.Feeling like I do I’m willing to try anything.

    This is false

yes when you have CFS/ME some people do not tolerate it which does vary but this is the case with many different substance caffeine is another some can't have it at all others are fine if they do not over do it.

drinking that many cans a day really is not good that includes people that do not have anything wrong with them like cfs/me.
