      Hi Deirdre,

Yes they have a very good doctors and have many activities to help find the things that keep their interest.

There are so many special schools and camps for aspies now. It all different each Aspie is different. My son with his twins is a high functioning high energy performance Aspie heads a program in the computer industry.

He also admits most of the high focused computer programmers and writers are as he is high functioning Aspies. He never stops talking. He is very bright. He has lots of connections for his son.

He does have a hard time making friends. Even as a child it's something now he accepts who he is. He has made a good life for himself and his family.

Hope you are doing well. It's not easy having children with handicaps. I wish you the best. And your child is doing well. You have come thru so much! Have a lovely summer!

I understand how difficult this must be for you as my son is 25 and has high functioning autism .

there is no cure I am afraid to say . All there is that you can do is to learn what you can and find stratagies to deal with what they are doing. Also identify what triggers a melt down and try to eliminate the cause before it happens.

I agree that you need to know you are important too. Life cannot be ALL about them . Hugs x

      Hi Caroleanne,

grat at advic I totally get it. The meltdown I use a distraction technique when taking care of my grandson. We will go outside and run or work on picking flowers which he loves the bugs especially. So we usually catch more bugs than picking flowers. Whatever works is what Imsay. You never know what will set him off.

We managed to figure out he could wear noise canceling earphones

he is now 12 and getting to big for me to handle by myself.  The doc  has started a new medication to help with his anxiety which really helps.

      Hugs back at ya! 😍
