aspirin and Acetominophen combo cover up pain from broken femur?????

Hello everyone. I am new to the forum.

My mom was dropped in an assisted living and never reported for 24 hours. Went to emergency room and had a broken femur!!!

They said she never complained about pain. I said that is hard to believe with a broken femur.

I was told that the combination of aspirin and acetominophen that she was taking could have covered up the pain from that so that she wouldn't feel it.

That doesn't sound right to me. My sister is a nurse and said no way.

What are your thoughts? Could that have covered the pain from broken femur? Doctor told us that it was swollen and deformed so it was obvious right away that the leg was broken.

Thanks

Greg K.

Hi Greg, I am so sorry your Mom got injured by people responsible for her care, obviously you shouldn't have to worry about this. Depending where you live, you'll need to see what your options are...I would be investigating this care facility, not ONLY for your Mom but, anybody else there is at risk, if they are being negligent!! Maybe ask police what is needed, get a free consult with an injury lawyer(who specializes in this area)...How did she manage to get DROPPED in the first place? How did they NOT check her for injuries(esp.if she is on meds that SUPPOSEDLY can mask severe injury)I don't believe the not feeling it story, either? In any care facility, if they have nursing care, they should have reported the incident & put it on her chart, in case she had future problems & checked her over & you don't say how old she is & if she totally aware but, if NOT they should have notified the family? How for 24 hrs did NOT ONE NURSE OR AID, SEE A DEFORMITY? I don't believe she didn't express ANY discomfort...IMO it sounds like they were hoping it would go away? Who & how did they find out 24hrs later, if she didn't have pain? She was still on aspirin & tylenol...no way does their story sound true...if they investigate & they were NOT negligent, at least you know your Mom is safe staying there, and everyone else...accidents do happen but, this is how people who DON'T BELONG in this line of work get outed, they may quit or have a history of INCIDENTS, once an investigation begins...unfortunately, a lot of negligence/abuse goes on in all types of carehomes/facilities....I would do everything possible to get to the bottom of this...how can you not worry it could happen again? Good Luck, Hope your Mom has a full & speedy recovery...BEST WISHES💒🎶♾🌈🐾🍀☮

Hi, sorry about your mother. Having had a broken femur which went undiagnosed for almost 2 weeks, I can imagine that if she wasn't able to walk around anyway and was confined to a bed or chair, she might not feel too much pain while on painkillers. However, the slightest movement of her leg would still be very painful so unless she was constantly immobile, she must have been in pain, even with the medication.
