Aspirin for blood thinning after surgery

Posted , 2 users are following.

Now 2 weeks post op from trimal surgery.. was on lovanox to prevent blood clots but was having issues so Dr switched me to taking aspirin -325mg 2x a day- . Was wondering if it’s safe to have a few glasses of wine while taking the aspirin? I am not a regular everyday drinking and have not drank since before the surgery .. should I skip the second dose for the day since alcohol has blood thinning effects? Thanks! Going a little stir crazy and just want a few dranks

My dentist calls red wine "nature's blood thinner". My gums bleed just from cleaning and I drink a glass every night to help me sleep. Aspirin is different than Lovenox in that aspirin is an anti platelet. You may experience more bruising and possibly nose and gum bleeding than with something like Lovenox. I had to stop the Aspirin and go on Eloquis. Everyone is different so I would just watch for anything out of the ordinary (blood in stool or urine) and report it to the doc.
