Hi all,

My forms were received last monday and today i have received a letter for my assessment which i am booked in for next Thursday at 9am in a town nowhere near me. I am thinking my form has be processed quick, does anyone else agree? I only sent of a GP letter yesterday with another letter from a family member regarding my disability.

I'm helping someone with a PIP application at the moment and a very similar thing happened to them (assessment next week). It might be because the assessor doesn't need to contact any medical professionals first.

Just a thought it is hard to keep up with them as the goal posts are forever being moved.

You can ring and ask for a different appointment closer to your home, but you can only do this once.  For a home assessment you would need a letter from your GP explaining why you need this.

Hi I asked for a home visit and was instantly given it and wasn't asked for a DR's letter.

I possibly think that was maybe to do with the volume of medical reports I supplied with my forms.

If its the nearest place 2 hours away then I think that's disgusting.

?Totally wrong in law, but correct in the DWP's interpretation of it.

?There is nothing in the legislation that says that you are only allowed to change the appointment once.

?The DWP put that bit in to suit themselves so that they can control what is happening with assessments.

?Another example of how the DWP see themselves above the law and operate a system outside of what the rules, regulations and case law dictate.

Unfortunately, as yet there is little case law to support or otherwise, anything to do with PIP, so the DWP can pretty much suit themselves.  Tribunals don't consider things like inappropriate travel times or whether claimants are within timescales etc.  What's needed is for claimants to appeal to the high court so that proper rulings can be made.

Yes  I'm surprised that there is little case law despite it being 3 years since PIP came in.Maybe despondency has set in and it is far easier to give in than fight a battle with so much stacked against you.
