Asthma diagnosis

Hi everyone. I wonder if someone can offer any advice? Occasionally I get flare ups where I wheeze. It happens mainly when I take a breath in. My throat is dry at times. Saw a respiratory consultant who said my lungs were ok, no sign of copd and that had normal heart sounds. I hyperventilate with this as well. I'm just worrie that if I've been told it's not asthma what can it be? Could it be lung cancer or a tumor? sad

    Wheezing is a sign of asthma but if that has been ruled out check for allergies

      Thank you. I just couldn't understand that all peak flow tests were normal and heart sounds. Sometimes it almost felt as tho it was on my chest? I have had bit of sore throat and cough with it too?

    Hi there, your peak flow can be normal but does not discount asthma.

    I have a normal peak flow and have a good reading when doing the Spirometry test but i have asthma. I wheeze and cough even when walking upstairs.

    Explain that you are wheezing and that you are concerned I am sure your gp/asthma nurse will do something for you.

    Asthma quite simply has the appearance to make you normal and tests come back as normal. Unless you go when you are really bad or unless it that bad you are hospitalised for it.

    Asthma usually goes hand in hand with allergies (I have hayfever etc) do you have any of those?

      Hi dawn I do t have hay fever. I'm not sure about allergies but I'm definitely wheezing. It's weird how I've seen a respiratory consultant and had respiratory physical test yet none of them explained why I'm wheezing just that tests are normal. With asthma does your chest tend to hurt? Kind of like a soreness 🤔 I think I'm going to go back to GPa and see if any further tests can be done. When my GP first thought it could be asthma she gave me an inhaler and funny since the wheezing has come back I've taken it a couple of times and I haven't had it for a day or two so maybe that confirms it? Although I'm rubbish, I don't think I use it properly lol. As I said my throat has been but sore with but of a dry cough. Are those also symptoms?
