Asymptomatic SVT- lasting for days

New here and wondering am I the only who has these attacks last for days? I am on day 4 of my latest svt. Long story short I started having "panic and anxiety" attacks around age 20, they would last 5-25 min, sometimes an hour. I was diagnosed with depression at 25 and put on Celexa and tranxene. Celexa kept the emotions in check but attacks still came, usually if I was asleep and I coughed it would set it off. They got longer, lasting 3-5 hrs and tranxene simply knocked me out so I stopped taking that years ago. In Jan this year, I woke up unable to breathe or move around, went to the e.r. and they found a huge P.E. on my left lung. (I had not been to a dr in 15 years -yes I know shame on me lol) I was put in ICU , spent 10 days having echos, angios, ekgs, ctscans, my heart and lungs in great shape even though I kept telling the cardiologist I felt flutters. Day 5 and I felt the "attack flutter" and telemetry had alarms going off like crazy. More ekgs, echo , meds, nothing was helping. Cardiologist said I was Atypical because I had no symptoms and seemed fine, I do not feel it unless I move around and then I get winded a bit. He ruled out afib and said it was not anxiety but svt. After 3 days he was frustrated he couldnt get it stopped and he hooked me to a crash cart as a just in case (which was terrifying) and injected some medicine in that should have stopped and restarted my heart. Nothing happened. 20 min later same proceedure. Still nothing. He released me and sent me home with my hr still at 165. It was 2 days later at home that it stopped. I was put on 100mg Mertoprolol 2x day, Eliquis 5mg, still on Celexa, and I am very anemic so 65mg Iron as well. Last week I had an attack start at 5am and last until 2pm. This tuesday 7:30am big flutter and was off and running. My normal pulse of 65ish has been 145-180 for almost 4 days now. Vagal, ice, water, sleep, nothing seems to phase this craziness. I nearly collapse from exhaustion when these stop and I sleep for at least a day. The older I get (43) the longer these last and the longer the recovery time. Am I the only one having these last for days? Anyone have a medication I might suggest to my GP ( hes a great dr but like most others he is clueless as to side effects and interactions!) And does thyroid have any effect? I have asked 3 drs to check my thyroid and they all ignore it. If there is some simple solution I would love some input. Thanks in advance -Raine

Hi Rainebow 43, Atenolol (5mg) and Flacainide worked for me. Even though I still had episodes but minimum. Hope this helps.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

I am very surprised they have not checked your thyroid function as an over active thyroid can definitely cause this.I have been checked every time I go to A & E. My friend was on holiday and his heart had been racing for a few days, he got the plane home and his pulse was over 200 , when he landed he was rushed to hospital and diagnosed with a thyroid storm. He has had treatment and is now fine.
