At a loss

I'm at a loss of how to handle my situation. I've posted in the past and and still don't know what to do. I'm almost 2 yrs out of my 2nd shoulder surgery and 1 yr and 7 months out from my 3rd. Slap repair, tendesis, and frozen shoulder. I still get sharp pains around the tendesis site. My Dr never says much about it. I had a cortisone shot about 4 weeks ago and it did nothing. I did go for a second opinion but since there aren't many shoulder specialist around they all know each other and won't step on toes. I wish he would say let's see what's going on or this is just how it's gonna be. My rom in some directions is 80 percent and 50 in other directions. Has anyone else still experienced sharp pains through their shoulder and have nothing wrong?

Did you have s MRI of your shoulder recently? Talk to your Orthopedic doctor again and ask him why are you having all this pain. I had a SLAP surgery last year, and I've been having pain here and there myself; especially when I do certain things, like dressing, doing my hair, and just sitting. I get these sharp spasms eith a burning sensation. I had a MRI recently and my Dr. says it's the scar tissue causing my pain and ROM from being where it needs to be. I'll be having surgery again soon, to have the scar tissue removed and to freeze the bursa so I don't have anymore scar tissue. Try to talk to your doctor again, and ask about a MRI, or could it be scar tissue. Praying that everything goes well!

No he hasn't sent me for one. About 9 months ago I had asked him about having an mri done and he said he didn't think it was necessary. I see him tomorrow so well see what happens then. He's a great surgeon but his peep skills suck! Lol. After having 3 shoulder surgeries I dont think I would have another one. Just would be nice to know what's going on so I can better deal with it. Not knowing has been very stressful.

Remember, you are in control! Tell him you have a right to know what's really going on, and you would like to have a MRI of your shoulder. This was my 2nd rotator cuff surgery on the same shoulder, but this time was more intense due to more issues. Have you been going to therapy to help with ROM
You can try icing your shoulder too. Praying for good results tomorrow! Where are you located?

Yes, I forgot about pain management. I'm surprised your doctor didn't refer uou to pain management too. That's another suggestion.

Just got back from the Dr. He did give me a cortisone injection 4 weeks ago but that did nothing. I asked him why I still get pain and he said your should has had a lot of trama and 3 surgeries. He said the hopes of surgery is to make it better. Sometimes it does the opposite. As you know there are no guarantee with surgery. I asked him if I should have an MRI just to make sure everything is ok. He said he didn't feel it was necessary at this point and that he feels that my pain is coming from just using it and gave me extra restrictions at work

WOW! I'm surprised with his reply or that he would even tell you that there's no guarantees with surgery! Why he wouldn't send you to pain management or even order a MRI, is strange to me. I'm so sorry to hear that! Do you have a primary doctor you can talk to about this? How can you work being in pain like that?? I really pray you can get some answers or relief; it's just not fair for anyone to have to go through so much much without knowing WHY!!

It hasn't been easy. I struggle every day at work. Luckily I can work at my own pace. I'm pretty sure he just wanted paid for a surgery at this point. It's a workmans comp case so he knew he'd get paid. I'm not sure why he wouldn't order an MRI either. Like, let's see if something is going on or is this just how it's gonna be from here on out. I went through this with him after my first surgery. Took months of complaining about still hurting before he ordered an MRI. By that time the previous repair was torn again but a bit worse. That's why they did the tenodesis. As you know I'm stressed beyond belief with this. That's why I can here. I dont have anyone in my life to talk to that knows what shoulder surgeries/problems are like. Thank you for at least listening

I'm so sorry to hear that! Mine's is WC also, and regardless of what he might think, the fact remains that you are having a lot of pain, and he is supposed to help his patients, not let them suffer with pain! I just feel bad for you, because I know about the pain issue. I let my doctor know about my pain, and he does what he can to get to the problem to help ease my pain. Having shoulder surgery 3x is A Lot!! I'm sure your muscles are probably weak after all that surgery! What are you taking to help ease the pain; anything? What about something for inflammation and icing? Maybe it will help some until he orders a MRI or refers you to pain management. If you continue with this pain; I would call him back, and request a MRI or pain management. Maybe it's scar tissue too. This is what I'm going through now. I just want to get back to what I enjoy doing; my passion! Working with the kids! Maybe you can look up on line for something you can do at home for pain. I'll be praying for some relief and healing! Give your worries to the Lord; He will hear you, and He will help you through this too! Read Psalms 118;6-8 and Psalms 37:5.
