AT LARA / AT LISA DUE FOR SURGERY SOON (MYOPIA++)

Hi all,

Feeling hopeful for Replacement Lens Surgery, electing to do it due to -11 / -9.5 toric . My glasses even with reduced thickness glass are very heavy, hate wearing and I don't think I will be able to wear contact lens for much longer as my eyes seem tired and a bit dry (I'm 46 yrs old). I've read some of the discussions here and wish I hadn't!

anyone have good experiences and similar to my situation?

At LARA / AT LISA ? thoughts?

How long before surgery must I have my contact lens out (soft). I've had all the measurements already and I had them out for 3 weeks at that time.

I have tried to be aware of the dangers / complications especially retinal detachment in my case.

thanks,

sam

I would go with LISA. LARA is like SYMFONY and the near vision is not great. At 46 you need good near vision as I assume you are still in the workforce.

You do have a risk of retina detachment. This risk increased after you have had YAG. High myopic, YAG and male under 50. You could see a retina specialist every year and address any issue if it arises. Good luck.

thanks, thats a good idea to see a retinal specialist regularly.

I have been told im having LARA in my left eye, LARA in the right.

hi, my mistake. LARA in left eye, LISA in right. my left eye is my dominant. right has astigmatism. The surgeon made the choices.

that could be a good strategy. lara will fill in gaps and give better distance and intermediate.. lisa will give great near and nice distance and intermediate.

actually if you like LARA then get LARA in both. Better contrast. if u feel u need better vision for near then LISA in the next eye.

In decent light I can read the back of a vitamin bottle. When I wore contact lenses I was always reaching for reading glasses to see ingredients in food, washing labels, etc. I'm not needing to do that nearly as often now. Phone, tablet fine. I can read a 1:25000 OS map with no problems. The only time I do need glasses is if the light is dim, or the contrast isn't great, or I'm going to read for a prolonged period. But for daily life, going out and about, it's plenty good enough for me. Distance and intermediate is excellent. I'm mid fifties.
