At last!

Hi all,

I felt I should post my own as experience as I have been reading everyone else's now for sometime.

My partner and I have been trying to conceive for over two years, I'm 28 and earlier this year I approached my GP for help.

I was sent for an ultrasound in February this year as my periods were irregular and becoming few and far between. The ultrasound revealed that I had pcos and I was so upset by this news. I had read about pcos before and suspected it may be that that was affecting my cycles and my fertility.

My GP referred me to a gynaecologist at my local hospital who then suggested I have all the tests before they prescribe any medication (clomid). I had a HSG in May of this year which showed no blockage in my tubes and all looked ok. A month later I went back to my gynaecologist who confirmed the results and prescribed me a 3-cycle course of clomid to start on the second day of my next cycle.

During this time, between the ultrasound and the HSG, I had many blood tests to check for hormone levels and ovulation. The results of one of these tests showed that I had an overactive thyroid and again I was heartbroken. How can I possibly conceive with pcos and hyperthyroidism?

I waited and waited for my next cycle to come so I could start taking the clomid tablets but there was no show so I thought 'OK, I'll do a pregancy test. It'll be negative again but you never know...)

I am now 12 weeks pregnant and am due to have my first scan tomorrow - I am so excited!!!

I know many of the experiences posted here do not have happy endings but please keep trying; I hope I can give you all enough hope from my experience.

I think the HSG definitley had something to do with me conceiving and I also joined Weight Watchers after being diagnosed with pcos and lost 2 stones!

Take care and good luck everyone!

Lx

congrats, thats fantastic news for you.

I am also 28, had regular periods all of my teenage years before going on the pill at 20. Went to gynae 2 weeks ago and he was noticed cysts on my ovaries (might add that ive been to other gynaes and non of them did internal ultra sounds).. anyway i have gone off the pill and waiting to see what happens.

i have no other signs of PCOS - am normal weight, no excess hair and skin is fine - so measured my temp this month, its all over the graph but had really sore ovaries for about 5 days over the time i should have been ovulating and now its fine, due to start my period second wk in Oct.

Feel quite upset by the whole thing ! But its great to hear positive results !
