at my last nerve!!

Hello,

So I have been under a consultant for Urology since August and was referred for a CT Contrast Scan, which I chased up this week.

Some background, potential kidney stones, to potential gallstones, to now a lesion on my kidney. I have been for blood tests, ultrasounds etc that have come back abnormal.

They have now advised that radiology have rejected the CT scan request, and my consultant has not done anything further. I understand they have a lot of patients but I dont think this is acceptable, am I being unreasonable?

Has this happened to anyone previously?

Yeah been there. the problem a doctor once pointed out to me is kidney stones are very underrated by doctors, who have a tendency to minimize the condition. as well as patients don't act on it, figuring the pain will go away, which sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.

nurses have even brought out that having a kidney stone for a man is like being pregnant, or having a baby. the reason for that is the stone many times puts pressure on the stomach, mimicking the pain that women get while they are pregnant.

when you get a chance look up Dr Kenneth Peters, he works out of Michigan, but is world renowned, he also specializes in female urology.

for me the main issue was pain, i had to fight many times, cause i typically have no blood in my urine. make sure they give you anti inflammatory, something for nausea at least, both are not considered narcotics. if you do get a doctor willing to give you something for pain listen for Dilauded, it works best, but is strong, give them the urine sample before, cause it works quick.

i hope the best for you, i understand what you feeling, i passed 20 stones in just one month.

Hello, so sorry to hear your disappointment here. Definitely keep asking. I couldnt believe the pain i was in last time; and the hospital just sent me home; was asked to come back in the morning! You wouldnt let a dog go that long in pain so why a human being?! I went back in the morning and was throwing up by that point, turned out I had developed sepsis! Caused by the blocking stone. Luckily they realised in time. My point is, I had no idea myself how ill I ACTUALLY was. Sepsis is so dangerous. Trust your doctors.....

But also; only you know how much pain you are in. Keep persisting in your request for a scan. Did any stones show up on the ultrasound? Mine did. If they couldnt see any maybe that's why they cancelled the scan?

Good luck and hope you get some answers soon.

unfortunately the free clinic doesn't offer any tests, but as i said earlier people don't know how to treat patients.

on one hospital visit, which was on my birthday, the doctor told me i would be given pain med every 4 hours, that was at 5 pm, he also told me cause my urine was burning and the head of the penis was likewise burning, i was going to be given some cream to reduce the burn.

7am i was given no meds all night, and the nurse came in, turned on all the lights, turned the TV off, told me, and then hung up my mother who i was on the phone, i asked for meds, still no meds.

about an hour later my mom came, the nurse refused to give me the cream, or a doctors note, claiming you can work with kidney stone, as well as any meds to go home with.

a doctor came in with a doctors note, with no cream, nor prescription for pain.

that's why i said not many doctors, or nurses even grasp of how painful stones really are.

the funny part is, who wants to spend their birthday in a hospital?

that's not where i want to be, with me the hospitals seem not to believe me regarding pain, they basically treat you as a drug addict, looking for a fix.

it really bothers me, cause how many others are likewise treated this.

i certainly hope you are feeling better.
