At my wits end, need help

I was diagnosed with IBS several years ago. The symptoms have changed over the years, but I will describe what I have been dealing with lately. Constipation is usually the problem - accompanied by lots of gas and burping. If I do not use the bathroom in a few days, I take Miralax. It usually takes a couple of days to work, then I am in the bathroom for three days in a row, and urgency is the name of the game with diarrhea. I have had several close calls, but have somehow managed to find a bathroom. I feel like I cannot leave my home. Today was going fine, but all of a sudden I had to leave my groceries on the supermarket checkout to run to the ladies room - embarrassing. I cannot go anywhere that I do not have immediate access to the bathroom. About a month ago I started taking Citrucil, but I am still having these issues. I have been to the gastroenterologist, but she has been unable to help me. Thoughts?

From my own experience a change in diet has really helped. (I've also had days which I didn't feel safe leaving the house)
I went to the dietitian and she recommended the low fodmap diet, I've only been on it for about 4 weeks now, but it has made a big difference for the better. Also drinking more water is something I needed to work on.

Hi, I'd start with your diet anything you eat have you noticed worse or better? check out the FODMAP diet online gives foods likely to be problematic, do you have a lot of sugar food, drinks?, something's to check out what might benefit, probiotics, China seeds, coconut oil, peppermint enteric coated capsules, things that can cause gut problems, Candida albicans, H-pylori, knowledge is power that's what I reckon, good luck.

If you have definitely been diagnosed with IBS you could try COLPERMIN. You can buy them from the chemist and if they help you can get them on prescription. Hope this helps.
Take care and keep in touch

Colpermin may help with pain and bloating but has variable results like all IBS treatments. It won't help though with diarrhoea. Another remedy along with Imodium is codeine. Both these helped me when I had an IBS A attack in July which caused diarrhoea for three days. Luckily I was at home and yards from my loo. However, on one occasion, I didn't make it.
