Hi in waiting for confirmation if I have lichen sclerosus! I'm just getting no relief from burning and continually needing to pee! Does this happen with LS?

Yes...before I was officially diagnosed with  LS the first symptom was a terrible UTI. I was constantly having to urinate. My bladder was irritated.  The discomfort drove  me to the uro-gynecologist. I was diagnosed with LS (after a biopsy ).   Both my gynecologist and dermatologist initially refused to do a biopsy because it didn't  appear like I had LS. I'm glad I persisted on a biopsy. Once I started the clobetasol treatment  for  LS the  UTI symptoms slowly disappeared.  I have managed not getting another  urinary tract infection by taking the supplement D-Mannose. I read  a recent study that  mentioned that D-Mannose works as well as taking antibiotics but without the problems and side effects that come along with antibiotics. You can find it at a good health food store. I also recommend cutting down on sweets and taking a good probiotic. You can research D-Mannose on the internet. Good Luck!

your skin gets thin and irritable.  your bladder and vaginal areas are all connected...they affect each other.my obgyn treats my bladder   I am on elmiron and get bladder treatments where they inject the bladder and then do an accupunture treatment called PTNS  best things you can do is use no medicated wipes, only water and mild soap, always go to the bathroom after sex, try coconut oil on area, it is soothing and healing and natural.Itried d mannose, it didnt do anything. I added that to cranberry supplement.  I take clobestesoll cream for lechinclerosos, and they also can use aquaphor compount  or dhea compound.  my obgyn swears by DHEA! she said new tests show it helps bladder and vagina at the same time. I had biopsies and also tested for a bacteria that sits in urethra that is hard to detect which can lead to fruquent UTI.  absolute best thing you can do for that is wipe backward after pooping and completely clean up after sex and get all seamen out and use a non allergic all natural lubricant...

It seems with LS not all alternative treatments work for everyone. I regularly get acupuncture treatments but it didn't seem to help with my UTI symptoms. Acupuncture does help me relax and with other stress related symptoms. I found that D-Mannose worked when I bombarded my system. I took 2 capsules every 2 to 3 hours for several days  (lots of water) and for the bladder pain and pressure I did castor oil rubs. Once the symptoms started to lessen,I decreased the amount I was taking. I take 1 or 2 capsules daily for maintenance. This website has been invaluable for me. I've gotten lots of support and information.

Yes! I was diagnosed with LS last week. I had this horrible urge to pee and a burning sensation. I then noticed that the skin around my urethra had turned white and as thickened. That's what lead me to my gyno who did a biopsy.

I have just started treatment with a steroid cream. Still no relief yet. I have awful pain around my urethra. Does anyone know how long after starting treatment do you get relief?

there many alternative treatments out there. I found that it took a while before the I felt relief. I was applying halobetasol (steroid) but it took along time before I saw results. I'm now down to steroid treatment once a week. I do virgin organic coconut oil on a daily basis to avoid getting urine on the area. Coconut oil works for me. I also take supplements. My urogyn gave me lidocaine to help with the pain when I urinated. It was a combination of things that finally calmed things down.

Ive ben thinking that my burning was hormonal only. One obgyn said she thought i had mild lichens, derm said didnt fit the pattern.wondering now if the uretha issues and buning around it are from the lichens..now just to sort it out.Wish some doctor would confirm something.Does it always have to be whiteish or can it appear normal at first? Drinking alcohol can really set it off.probably because its acidic.
