Hi...Is Atorvastatin helps to lower High Blood Pressure? I started taking this 3 weeks ago after my doctor prescribed me this because of high level of cholesterol (290). My normal blood pressure before taking this medicine was 130-140/90...but when I started taking Atorvastatin may BP went down to 115-120/80. I dont know if it is bacause of this medicine or because I also started a change of lifestyle like regular exercise, fruits and vegetable diet, avoiding fatty foods and carbs. Just want to know if my new lifestyle is taking effect...THANK YOU VERY MUCH

I would think it's your extra exercise and change of diet that has helped to lower both your cholesterol and blood pressure - sometimes for some people that's all it needs.  I have a 90-year-old aunt who swims 3 x weekly and goes to the gym, plus sequence dancing a couple of times a week......she has normal cholesterol and blood pressure!  So you've found your answer - well done!

Hi Tangkad. I agree with Mrs O, it is more likely to be your lifestyle change than the Atorvastatin. We all have a desire to be drug free but need to help our bodies by eating healthily and exercising. Its not rocket science but still quite difficult to do with all the naughty foods available to us! Good luck with your new regime!

Much depends on your dosage of Atorvastatin which is available in a wide range of tablet strengths. To my mind a high dosage statin is more likely to reduce BP in three weeks than is a change of lifestyle for such a short period.
