I have been having missed heart beats on and off for 3 months now. My own GP detected it and sent me to A&E, but unfortunately the missed beats / irregular heartbeat was ok by the time i was seen in hospital. They have sent me an appointment to get a 24hr heart monitor on. My concern is that during those 24hrs that my heart will be normal rythum. Has anyone else had a problem with getting it checked at hospital when it actually happens?

Hospital have said it could be AF or an extra beat. Do hospitals need to see it on an ECG to diagnose AF?
