Atrial Fibrillation-Head and Ear pressure

Diagnosed with AF in May 2008, but about 6 months before that, and ever since, seem to suffer with pressure in ears and head. Has anyone else experienced these problems.

Put on Atenolol first, and later warfarin as well. On Atenolol, whilst ear and head pressure seemed to ease slightly, sometimes the pressure seemed like my head was going to explode. Currently taken off Atenolol, and only on Warfarin, and whilst do not get the occasional extreme pressure that I got whilst on Atenolol, but seem to get the ear and head pressure, albeit less intense, all the time. smile

Hi Tommy, Your story is extremely similar and equally as frustrating.  I was diagnosed with AF about 4 years ago after an infrequent heart arrhythmia got so bad and so frequent that it turned into full blown afib.  Now I am fortunate enough to seem to go a few years on end where I have virtually no afib issues at all but when I do get certain month or two long episodes where I can go into Afib almost every day or every other day.  Along with this the most frustrating issue I have been having lately much like yourself is extreme head pressure, ear pressure and strange sensations of dizziness or the feeling that I am gonna just simply pass right out.  Fortunately I have never passed out but its hard to go to work and run a normal life when I have these weird episodes where I feel like I could hit the deck at any moment.  Due to my very infrequent AF and my age (35) I have been fortunate enough to never require a blood thinner outside of daily aspirin so I don't think that any medications I take outside of a heart burn medication can be responsible for the head pressure.  I have been for every test, seen every specialist for the head pressure and get a negative diagnoses from every one of them.  I cant stress how frustrating it is feeling like crap every day of my life and doctors tell me there is nothing wrong with me.  The only thing I have been able to find that gives me some sort of short term relief is a trip to the chiropractor.  After seeing him I feel seeming 20% better for the next 24-48 hours or so and then right back to square 1 after that.  The short term relief is nice but seems to be a temporary solution.  If there is anything else that seems to work for you please feel free to let me know.  I have tried almost averything and am always looking for different solutions from people to try.  Hope you feel better... I hope I do

I too have AF.  I have had two major strokes and two tia's.   They put me on eliquis. Thankfully I have got back to almost normal except for my head.  I have episodes of head and ear pressure, plus I have a swishing in my head that seems to go from ear to ear.  It makes me weak and dizzy.  I'm wondering if anyone else has this swishing  (for lack of better word).  I just realized that it may be happening when I'm in AF.  I'm not always aware of AF episodes unless they are really bad.  Any response will be appreciated.
