Atypical facial pain

Hi!

I know this might not apply to trigem but I couldn't find a separate category for atypical facial pain.

For a couple of years now, I've had this burning, searing pain, mostly on one side of the face. I at a loss as to what it could be. I had jaw surgery a few years back but the pain didn't really coincide with that but creeps up on me on and off during certain periods of time.

I do suffer from deep depression and it is at these times that I gets worse. So I guess the pain could be psychosomatic.

Even if it were to be psychosomatic, I still need urgent relief from this as it completely ruins my life being an additional element of misery coupled with the depression.

Nerve damage or not, have any of you found that any type of medication helps against this "phantom" pain? I've tried over-the-counters but they do absolutely nothing.

Very grateful for any responses.

Take care/
