Autoimmune protocol diet.

hello. I was wonder if any of you have tried different diets to manage your colitis. I am reading about the AIP diet which promises wonders. Looking at it, I can’t think I can do it. I am already following FODMAP. Any input would be valuable. Thanks

Ive tried every diet going and none really make a lot of difference! Almost 7 years suffering UC, at the moment I'm managing it really well with medication! After numerous drugs tried unsuccessfully, the latest ones are controlling it! Been on these for 9 months now however they do have some very nasty side effects! Now I'm having to deal with the side effects with separate drugs! It's a vicious circle and I can't quite decide which is worse! A bit fed up too having to take so many drugs! The latest are Mycophenolate and Sulphasalizine for the UC and Gabapentin to combat the nasty side effects - which can be unbearable at times! I do avoid spicy foods and eat very little meat! I also drink litres of bottled water every day! I find a lot of food difficult to digest and try to eat small portions several times a day! I drink Actimel daily too! I really think it's all a bit of a hit and miss! My weight is getting back to normal too, having dropped to 7 stone, I'm now a healthy 9! So that is a plus!  A horrible condition and I wish you well!

Thank you for your input. Yes, it is a horrible disease. According to my gastro, my UC is mild and he said he didn’t to put me on Aza just yet because of side effects. I think i’ll Stay on the Fodmap as it helps with the bloating. Stay well.
