Autorefractor for EDOF lens

Installed Vivity in one eye 9 days ago.
At yesterday's inspection, the autoref showed first +1D, then -1D (spherical equivalent) The sphere is + -0.25D there, the rest is astigmatism.
When manually measured, a -0.5D cylinder with a null sphere gives 20/20.
With a wide pupil, the same autoref generally gave out astigmatism of the order of -1.75D, which cannot be there. Maybe with a wide pupil, it generally captures the non-optical part of the lens over 6mm.
I don’t understand how to correct the calculations for the second eye now, if the autoref shows something incomprehensible.

was it set for plano? if so how much near do you get?
if you are happy with the distance then maybe try contacts of +0.5, +0.75, +1 till u find the right balance of near and distance and go with that much myopia.

I would never trust the autorefractor readings. I believe that machine is just for the convenience of the optometrist so they can start the the phoropter testing in the right ballpark and save some time. The phoropter outcome is the gold standard, because it is based on you telling the optometrist what looks best to you. It is you that needs to be happy with your vision, not the autorefractor machine.

Interesting I am going for my final Optometrist (6 week) appt. tomorrow and anxious to see what I have. The only problem I found with the phoropter test is that it went so fast that I was not always sure I was calling the best choice of the lens right. The nurses at my HMO doing this test seem to go very fast it and I did not feel 100% sure of my choice.

I have techs try to rush me too. I just tell them to wait because I need to be sure of what I am seeing, but I say it emphatically to them. Then they slow down.

I was thinking of doing that also but today the Optometrist who did the test moved at a perfect pace so it all worked out rather well!

I do not think Autorefractors are NOT calibrated to evaluate EDOF lens yet.
I can only answer with respect to my eyes. The EDOF lens is my right eye. The left eye has my biological original lens.
When the optometrist first refracted my eyes. He specified for reading magnification
+1.50 OD (right eye) (this eye = EDOF IOL)
and
+2.25 OS (left eye) (this eye is original)
So, you see the EDOF lens needs less magnification power, due to its ability to stretch the focal range over larger distances.
Many years ago:
The first few follow ups, I notice the optometrist's auto refractor steered the nurse technician wrong. I had noticed reading font sizes varied right eye to left eye, so I experimented by ordering online several cheap (online $25 eye glass) prescriptions according to my perceived font size variance. I do not alter any astigmatism values (the cylinder value).
FYI: at this moment, both of my eyes are plano in the spherical range. I just need astigmatism correction.
It appears that EDOF lens ability to stretch he focus range requires less Positive value diopters Sprerical for optimal clarity.
