AV treatment - lubricating gels?

Posted , 6 users are following.

I'm post-menopausal - 69 - and have had vaginal itching and discomfort for a few months now.  Sex is uncomfortable.  I also take Nortriptyline, which I know has a drying effect on tissues.   The itching and discomfort are the only symptoms.   I've not been examined, but mentioned the symptoms to my practice nurse who agreed to prescribe a lubricating gel - Sylk.  However, after using it, I find that relief from the itching doesn't seem to last very long.

I'm going to try other gels to see if the effect is better.  Have others tried different gels?  Do some work better than others?  I'd be grateful for some advice.

I have recently been using tea tree anticeptic cream and its worked wonders. I have also just purchased so me aloe vera gel as spoken about by someone on this site but have lost the post. Could someone tell me if this is ok to use. It is the clear odourless gel 99.9% pure. The tea tree anticeptic has cured all the fissures and cracks. It gives a cooling effect like you have just sat on ice and that in itself is soothing.

    Hi Rosiemags

I have a cupboard brimming with every lotion, potion and snake oil on the market but most seem to have the same active ingredients.

From a sexual intercourse point of view I find Yes the best as it is really thick and coats the skin best there is a vanilla smelling one too but personally they both smell the same.

I also use their Yes moisturising gels available on prescription.

I like these because they are individual, discreet and come in a pretty organza bag plus with either free or 3month paid prescriptions as I now have they are economic  It has, and is costing me a fortune in non=prescription items,

Hi Rosiemags, if you feel discomfort and have uncomfortable sex, I reccommend to use coconut oil as a lube or something based on silicone, because it's safer than the lubes based on water or oil. I think if you go through Edenfantasys, you'll find something nice. Good Luck!
