Avoiding Burning Pain during Shingles

I was attacked by this evil Shingles virus 3 weeks ago and still suffering. It caused major swelling around the right side of my face and eye. During my hospital stay I had a really bad burning pain attack around my eye and forehead. It started as a need to scratch an itch then turned into a pain and quickly developed into a searing burning pain that left me screaming. I found a way to control it, so I thought you all might find this useful.

When the first need to scratch the area comes on, don't get stressed about it. Close your eyes and concentrate on the area while breathing slowly. Pretend to drag the pain away from the area down your body and above all stay calm. Totally relax your body. It's probably some relaxation technique with a proper medical name but I don't know it, or care. All I know is that I haven't had a searing pain since leaving hospital. So it's worth a try.
