Awful pain in my Vaginal Canal

I am currently having my first, suspected GH outbreak. I have been to my GUM clinic & a swab has been taken for confirmation. I'm about 7 days into my symptoms & I have suffered all the symptoms I have come across through research. However yesterday afternoon I started to experience a terrible pain in my vaginal canal. I haven't had children but the pain is how I would imagine it feels when the baby is bearing down on the cervix. It's a sharp pain, lasts for about 5 seconds & is happening every 2 minutes or so. Has anyone else experienced something like this or should I contact my GUM clinic?

I'm really sorry you have to go through this I am currently on my outbreak a s well its been about 10 days and I got the same exact pains I think it's your nerves that are shooting those pains that's the pain I got before I got my sores down there. I was literally bedridden for a week smiley so bad I would try to give it a couple hours and if it doesn't get better call your doctor but I don't know what your doctors going to prescribe to you for the nerve pain. Just try to keep drinking fluids keeping the ibuprofen in your system every 4 to 6 hours that's what I did. I promise you there's some relief coming this was my first outbreak and its taking about 10 days for me to even be able to get up and walk around and go to work. I'm 27 years old I'm healthy and she came out of nowhere this totally blinded me.

I'm drinking plenty of water but should probably continue with the painkillers (I stopped them on Tuesday morning). I've just started with a similar pain in my thigh so I'm guessing it's nerve pain, as you suggested.

I've been with my partner for a year (we spent our anniversary, on Monday, at the GUM clinic), we are faithful so I'm at a loss as to why & how I have got this now. I know GH can lay dormant until something triggers it but I've had many upsets which have reduced my immunity & made me prone to an outbreak before now.

I'm feeling pretty confused & quite upset.

P.S. I should add that herpes doesn't pass with every encounter, only when shedding, so it's possible to avoid it for months and then suddenly get it. Most people who develop a first outbreak, as yours sounds like, do so within the usual incubation period, which is about a week.

Could I have caught it from a previous partner & not suffer my first outbreak until now?

Delayed first outbreaks only happen in about 20% of cases. Are you sure he's never had a cold sore, not even as a child? Some people admittedly never have outbreaks.

He assures me he has never had one. It's a bit of a mystery to us.

Well, your swab test results will confirm whether it's herpes, and if so, which type, so you'll find out soon enough! Your bf can also then test, but for herpes IgG antibodies, since if it's from him, he has existing infection without symptoms, so a swab is not possible. Not sure that GUM clinics do IgG testing, however, so it might have to be done private or online.

We went to the clinic together & he was swabbed & had blood taken too. I'm not sure if we had the IgG testing because we were unaware about this test at that time. I'll give the clinic a call today & see if we've had this done.

Thank you for all your advice & information.

If it's herpes, I can only imagine that it's a nerve issue, although that's less common with first outbreaks and is usually down the leg or a dull pain in the tail bone, if it even happens. Does it hurt otherwise?

I had it down my leg, in my butt and back on first outbreak. Couldn't sit or lay only stand smh lol

That is quite bad nerve pain for a first outbreak! I had none, only a dull ache in my tail bone area *after* my first outbreak, followed by some odd muscle twitches in my right leg (both temporary).

I've just started with the pain in my thigh too. I'm guessing it is nerve pain as you've suggested. The pain of the blisters is lessening & the glands in my groin are less tender. My back pain has also cleared & I'm not suffering with the flu like symptoms anymore.
