Hi Jason I am on azathioprine and am into my fourth week of treatment the first few weeks were ok but this last week I have felt crap, been feverish, nausea finally being violently sick Thursday pm, and to cap it off Friday night with really bad diarrhoea I have lost a whole week feeling ill which I am blaming on the medication, due to see the gastroenterologist at the end of the month just unsure if I tell him I want to stop treatment. Seems a lot of people suffer on this drug not sure if it's worth it

Hi Barbara I had much the same experience on this drug.  After my third attempt on that evening 10.pm I couldn't leave the toilet from due to severe vomiting and severe explosive diarrhoea.  Grahic as it may sound but both ends were severely actice at the same time I have seen experienced anything like it in all of 14 years suffereing from colitis.  I was rushed to hospital seriously dehydrated high blood pressure and a tempreture of 40c I was sick spent 3 days on fluids.  Home a week now still have chest infection very weak no strength.  I feel a slight improvement an experience that I will never forget.

Hi Jason thanks for the reply. I have decided that Azathioprine is not for me so I will talk to the specialist about an alternative for my AIH. I think that I would rather take my chances with out drugs than to feel as I have this week for sure can't do with loosing a week every time I pick something up, I know it takes a while to get active but must be hitting my system quickly. Can't face a UK winter with the thoughts of being ill. Glad you are feeling better.
