Hi
This is my second time writing. I am 14 weeks post up today from TKR. I was actually feeling somewhat human again. Cut back on Vicodin. Now today I wake up with pressure band feeling again, so depressed, had to take a half Vicodin. Knee hurts like Hell, no swelling, no injury just pain back again. Sorry to be so long winded but I just had to write. Anyone ever have this happen???

Try not to be depressed, I have experienced similar bad days. I remember the day heel slides brought me to tears, weeks after doing them with no problem. Just chalk it up to a bad day and remember tomorrow will be better. You did the right thing taking pain meds to help get through, use ice, rest and do a little less till this reverses. Hang in there the good days will outnumber the bad soon. I'm 5 months and 2 months

That "tight band feeling" can persist for up to 18 months...no, not like this...it decreases over time until you never even noticed that it was gone. Totally normal. Nothing to get "depressed" about...

Yes,Arlene, this is the thing. The tightness at the knees is what bothers me too. 14 weeks here too and a double TKR!!!! This will eventually go away,it is part of the process and really only the ice is helping a bit. Still taking a Norco every 24 to 30 hours,it helps a little but I want to get rid of it,not a big fan of this kind of pain killers.
Walking is the best in terms that it looses up a bit but when I come home my middle name is ICE😰. My surgeon did tell me that it will go away, and he strongly recommended water therapy, but since I do not have a private pool,I am avoiding the public one....If you want and can,try it... Good luck and speedy recovery!!

I’m so sorry you’re feeling down, but hang in there. It amazes me that I can have a good day and then wam I’m back at start again. It is absolutely perfectly normal. Pace yourself, when you’re feeling good don’t let yourself go overboard. Albeit tempting to do. Soon the good days will outnumber the not so good! Hugs and wishes for healing!

So sorry to hear this, Arlene. I'm not as far along in this TKR journey as you are, but I had a total pain melt down last week. Thank you for sharing this. It is good for all of us to know this will happen so we can be more prepared for it. Even though I felt like rubbish when I went to PT my therapist said I was doing well. I've never been one to take strong meds, even with migraines, but with this TKR I'll take them if I need to. Part of my husband's job has been to try and help people with addictions so I do fear addiction but I know within myself that as soon as I need to stop taking this stuff I will. I wish you well. Hope you get some rest and relief soon. Let us know how you're doing. 💐
